Chapter 29
Janice stepped out of Gomez Corporation and looked up at the orange–hued sky.
If she wanted to take the Ladgwig family down, she had to cut off their path to power.
Malcolm had a formidable background. At the very least, she had to make sure Reina didn’t end up being his wife.
With this thought in mind, Janice took out her phone and dialed a number. “Kody, are you free tonight?”
“What’s up?” Kody immediately responded, “Do you need something?”
Janice pleaded, “There’s a banquet tonight. Could you bring me along?”
Kody paused briefly before realizing which banquet she was referring to. He replied enthusiastically, “Of course!”
“Great. I’ll be waiting for you.”

The banquet hall was brilliantly lit, with glasses clinking and laughter filling the air as finely dressed elites mingled and conversed with one another.
Janice was dressed in a black evening gown, and her hair was swept up into an elegant updo that highlighted her slender neck. A subtle smile played on her red lips, and her eyes sparkled with a captivating charm.
Kody, standing beside her, looked equally dashing in his white suit. He guided Janice through the crowd and quietly introduced her to the guests they passed.
“That’s the chairman of Hadest Corporation, Henry Reynolds. It’s his birthday today, and he’s the host of this banquet tonight.”
Kody was halfway through his introduction when his stomach suddenly began to hurt, and he had to step away for a moment. Before leaving, he asked Janice to wait in place.
Janice gave him a slight nod before quietly scanning the room for her target
Just then, she felt a sharp gaze fall upon her. She slowly turned her head, only to meet Malcolm’s piercing gaze.
Malcolm radiated a chilling air that seemed to keep anyone from approaching him. He strode toward Janice and grabbed her wrist, pulling her to a quiet
corner of the banquet hall.
“What are you doing here? His voice was cold and laced with suppressed anger.
Janice shrugged off his grip and smoothed out the wrinkles in her dress. She said blankly, “What’s wrong? What does it matter to you if I attend this banquet?”
Malcolm frowned, feeling himself growing oddly irritated as he stared at Janice’s nonchalant expression.
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Kody may be insensible, but are you going to follow his lead too?”
Janice scoffed. “What exactly have I done? Don’t you think you’re overstepping? I came here to broaden my horizons and maybe even meet someone for a casual fling. That way, I won’t have to deal with people accusing me of being too clingy. Don’t you agree, Mr. Gomez?”
Janice deliberately twisted his words. Her voice was filled with mockery.
Malcolm’s expression darkened. His gaze was dark and unreadable. Janice was the one who provoked him first, yet she was now acting as it she had no part in it.
Just as Malcolm was about to say something, Janice cut him off. “Mr. Gomez, I have other matters to attend to. Excuse me.”
Kody, having just exited the restroom, began looking for Janice among the crowd. His eyes landed on Malcolm’s tall figure in the corner of the banquet hall.
“Malcolm, have you seen Janice?” He walked over toward Malcolm, but couldn’t seem to find Janice anywhere. Unease began to spread inside him.
Malcolm shot him a cold glare before spitting out, “Stay away from her.”
Kody paused before replying in displeasure, “Why? I think Janice is great. She’s beautiful and has exceptional medical skills.”
“Do you really know what kind of person she is?” Malcolm’s voice seemed to carry a hint of warning
