Malcolm’s kiss was domineering and passionate, carrying a sense of repressed longing. He pried Janice’s lips open, greedily stealing her breath..
She was left dizzy from the kiss, her body slowly going limp.
Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed outside the door. The clicking sound of high heels slowly grew closer until Sarah’s voice rang out from outside. “ Mr. Gomez, the documents you wanted…”
Her voice faltered as she seemed to realize what she had interrupted. She quickly fell silent, but it was already too late.
Malcolm and Janice both froze in place.
Malcolm took a deep breath, trying to compose himself before releasing Janice.
At that moment, Sarah wished she could just melt into the floor. She quickly lowered her head and said with a shaky voice, “I–I’m sorry, Mr Gomez. I didn’t know you were resting…”
“Get out.” Malcolm’s voice was cold and commanding.
Sarah trembled in fear, nearly dropping the documents in her hand. She quickly turned to leave, her high heels clicking frantically against the marble floor as she disappeared down the hallway.
Janice looked at Malcolm with a mocking smile. She said lazily, “Why did you stop, Mr. Gomez?”
Malcolm’s dark gaze fixed on her. His eyes were filled with a mix of emotions–anger, restraint, and undeniable irritation. He abruptly stood up and straightened his shirt before looking down at her.
“Get lost,” he spat.
Janice happily complied.
“Wait,” Malcolm called out once again. “You better behave and not cause any trouble.”
Janice looked back and gave him a flirtatious wink. “Don’t worry, Mr. Gomez. I’m very well–behaved.”
The setting sun showed through the windows, casting a warm glow over the cold office.
The clicking sound of Janice’s high heels echoed through the empty corridor before it finally came to a stop at Malcolm’s office door. Without knocking, she immediately walked in.
Malcolm was standing by the window, in the middle of a call, when he heard the door opening. He turned and looked at her inquisitively.
“Yes?” he asked blankly.
Janice didn’t reply and simply walked toward him. Her red- lips curved into a seductive smile. “How about dinner tonight?”
Malcolm frowned as his eyes darkened. He immediately declined, “I’m busy. I have a banquet to attend.”
“Then can I be your date?” Janice’s smile remained, yet there was now a hint of probing in her voice.
Without hesitation, he rejected her, “No”
She was about to turn to leave when she suddenly remembered something. She turned back to face him and said with a sly smile, “Let me guess. Reina will be at the banquet tonight, won’t she?”
Malcolm didn’t reply, but his eyes darkened, and the temperature around him seemed to drop.
Seeing his reaction, Janice immediately understood the situation. Without another word, she turned and left the office.
