Her words immediately set off whispers among the previously quiet office crowd. Indeed, Janice’s calmness, combined with her precise understanding of Emily’s symptoms and treatment, made it all seem… premeditated.
Janice shot Katherine a withering look, her voice dripping with unmasked disdain. “What exactly are you trying to say?”
Katherine lifted her chin defiantly. “You know exactly what I’m saying! Everyone doubts your skills, so you poisoned someone to prove yourself. Isn’t that right?”
“You—” Janice’s face tumed pale with anger. She couldn’t believe Katherine would concoct such a vicious lie.
“Katherine, don’t go too far! I know Janice’s character well. There’s no way she’d do such a thing!” Samuel finally spoke up, unable to stay silent any longer.
“People can always put on an act.” Katherine scoffed, rolling her eyes before pointing to the surveillance camera in the corner of the office.
“If you ask me, let’s just check the surveillance footage. The truth will come out!” she added.

The room erupted in chaos. No one had expected Emily to say something like that upon waking.
Janice stood there as if struck by lightning, staring at Emily in disbelled. “What… What are you talking about? When did I poison you?”
“It was… it was the glass of water you gave me this morning! I drank it and immediately felt unwell. Then, everything went black!” Emily pointed at Janice with conviction.
Janice froze. It was true. She had given Emily a glass of water that morning, but it was at Emily’s own request.
