Chapter 20
Kody Dashed a shy grin as he opened the car door for her
“So, what do you think? Malcolm’s pretty impressive, isn’t he? He’s the heir to Gomez Corporation, the biggest conglomerate in the city. People would
kill to work there”
Janice’s expression remained neutral, but inside, waves of shock rippled through her. So, Malcolm was the heir to Gomez Corporation. That explained his generosity–tossing around millions like pocket change and casually gifting her am apartiment.
The Ludvig family had spent years scheming to curry for with the Gomez family, drawn by their immense power and wealth. Reina had gone to great lengths to secure a marriage with Malcolm. It was obvious her motives were far from innocent.
The thought made Janice’s lips cal into a cold smile. She would never let the Ludwig family climb their way to the top through her

grand lobby of Gomez Corporation, all eyes turned to them. Kody’s effortless clurm, combined with Janice’s poised elegance, made them an undeniably striking pain.
“Kody, who’s this?” the receptionist asked, approaching them with a warm smile. Her gaze lingered on Janice for a moment, a hint of two flashing in her eves her beauty
“This is my friend, Janice Ludwig,” Kody said cheerfully, g gesturing toward her. “Malcolm’s looking for she’s the right fit.”
The receptionist nodded in understanding, then offered a professional smile. “Of course, please follow me.”

Kody that you’re applying for the physician position at our company? Malcolm’s deep voice broke the silence, his gaze cool and
“Yes,” Janice replied evenly, meeting his gaze without hesitation.
Malcolm frowned slightly, but he said nothing more.
Suddenly, the office door swung open, and a familiar voice, sweet and sugary, drifted in. “Malcolm, who are you talking to?”
Janice turned to see Reina stepping into the room. Dressed in a flowy white dress, Reina wore a saccharine smile. The moment her eyes fell on Janice, her expression froze.
“What are you doing here? Reina’s voice sharped, her smile vanishing as jealousy and venom flickered in her eyes.
Janice’s lips twitched into a faint smirk. “Why? Am I not allowed to be here?”
Kody stepped forward, his tone unusually firm. “Reina, Janice is here to apply for the physician position”
“What?” Reina’s voice rose sharply, as if she had just heard something unbelievable. “She’s applying to be a physician? Her?”
Her gaze swept over Janice disdainfully. “She doesn’t even have a high school diploma, let alone any medical credentials. Malcolm, you’re not seriously considering letting her work at the company, are you?”
Kody let out a scoft, as if he had just heard the most ridiculous jole, his tone tinged with a hint of displeasure. “Reina, don’t underestimate her. Janice’s medical skills are impressive. In fact, I once…
“Kody. “Malcolm’s voice was sharp, cutting him off.
Kody immediately fell silent when he realized he had almost let something slip. He had been the target of a malicious scheme, and it was Janice who had saved him.
Reina glanced suspiciously at Kody, her irritation deepening. She couldn’t understand why he was so protective of Janice.
Seemingly unfazed by Reina’s hostility, Janice stepped forward. Her voice was calm as she said, “Reina, Lunderstand you have many prejudices against me, but I’m here today for an interview. Please don’t misunderstand.”
Malcolm’s gaze rested on her face. “Janice, I’ve heard about your skills, but the company has its rules. Not just anyone can join.”
Janice raised an eyebrow, her tone laced with a hint of provocation. “What’s the matter, Mr. Gomez? Are you doubting my abilities?””
Malcolm frowned, about to respond, but Kody cut him off “Malcolm, just give Janke a chance! I trust her skills.”
Malcolm rubbed his temples in frustration. Kody was clearly smitten, defying him repeatedly for an outsider.
He wanted to refuse, but when his eyes met Janice’s clear, unwavering gaze, something stirred in him. Almost against his judgment, he relented.
“Fine. I’ll give you a chance, but you’ll need to prove your skills” Malcolm said in a deep voice.
Janice’s lips curled into a confident smile. “Don’t worry, I won’t disappoint you.”
Malcolm summoned his assistant to being a patient with a complicated condition for her to treat.
Shortly after, the assistant returned with a pale, frall–looking middle–aged man who could barely walk
Malcolm gestured to the man. “This is Joseph Warren. He has a rare condition that no specialist has been able to treat. Let’s see if you can‘

Janice approached the man, observing his complexion carefully before taking his pulse. After a moment, she smiled faintly and said, “I can treat this.” Her confidence let everyone stunned, including Malcolm. Joseph’s condition had stumped numerous experts, yet Janice claimed she could cure him? “Oh, came on, Janice. Stop embarrassing yourself with these wild claims,” Reina scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain.
Ignoring Reina’s taunts, Janice retrieved a set of silver needles from her bag. With deliberate precision, she began administering acupuncture, her moments steady and assured
As the silver needles were inserted into Joseph’s acupoints, his palle complexion slowly regained a healthy glow, and his breathing became steadier.
The room fell silent as everyone stared in disbelief. Even Malcolm, who prided himself on his composure, couldn’t mask his astonishment.
After about half an hour, Janice removed the needles and turned to Joseph. “Mr. Warren, your condition is temporarily under control. I’ll prescribe you some medication. With regular use, you should fully recover within a month.
Joseph was overwhelmed with gratitude. “Thank you, Dr. Ludwig! Thank you!”
Janice gave him a faint smile. “No need to thank me. This is just part of my duty.”
Rrina watched as Joseph’s complexion steadily regained a healthy glow, and alarm bells went off in her mind. She never expected Janice to actually have the skills to treat him, let alone succeed. There was no way she could let Janice stay in the company.
A devious plan began to take shape. With a flicker of calculation in her eyes, she feigned concern and said, “Janice, it’s wonderful that you helped Mr. Warren! But what if the illness resurfaces after a few days? His condition is so complex that even the experts couldn’t solve it.”
