Chapter 18
Malcolm took out a key from his coat pocket and put it on the countertop.
“What’s this?” Janice asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I’ve arranged an apartment for you. The address is on the key,” Malcolm replied nonchalantly, as if he were talking about the weather.
“Wow, how generous of you,” Janice said, toying with the key. “Why did you think of giving me this all of a sudden?”
“You should have your own place to stay,” Malcolm replied, averting his gaze.
“You’re right. Other people will get the wrong idea if I keep staying with you,” said Janice with a laugh, Intentionally getting the wrong meaning. “But I’m a very open person. Can I bring anyone I want to this apartment you bought me?”
She emphasized the word “anyone” and gazed at him intently. She wanted to spot any changes in his expression.
Malcolm’s expression darkened immediately. He looked up and locked eyes with her, his tone dangerously low. “Janice, what are you getting at?”
Tension filled the air, but lance didn’t seem to feel it. She smiled and said provocatively, “You know… maybe other men?”
Malcolm’s irritation simmered. He felt as if there was something lodged in his throat, making it difficult for him to breathe.
He pursed his lips and stared at Janice intently as if trying to read her thoughts from her calm expression. “As you wish,” he said through gritted teeth.
Janice raised an eyebrow and smirked. She intentionally misunderstood his words and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you jealous?”
“Janice!” Malcolm growled. He grabbed her chin and lifted her head so that she met his gaze. “Don’t test my limits.”
“Oh? What are your limits?” asked Janice and met his gaze boldly. She added in a challenging tone, “So I can’t bring other men home? Or is it just Kody?”
She brought up Kody on purpose. As expected, Malcolm immediately got upset
He let go of her chin and turned. Tugging at his tie in frustration, he spat, “Yes. Anybody but him.”
“Deal!” said Janice cheerfully and got ready to leave with the kry.
Malcolm felt even more irritated when he saw her leave without hesitation. He pulled his tie in annoyance and grabbed his car keys.
Walking out of the villa, he chased after her in his car. He followed her from afar until she stopped outside a luxury apartment.
He sat in the car for a long time until night fell. He only snapped back to reality after all the lights in the apartment had gone out.
Malcolm rubbed his temple. He didn’t know what he was waiting for. Was he waiting for Janice to show up with some other guy?
He rolled down the car window and lit a cigarette. The tip glowed in the dark and lit up his stony yet handsome face.
After finishing his cigarette, Malcolm started the engine and slowly drove away from the apartment.
Janice was awoken by the sudden ringing of her phone. It was a call from the renovation company.
“Ms. Ludwig, we’re going to start renovating your wellness center today. Are you free to come and take a look?” asked the worker politely.
Alter a moment of silence, she replied, “Sure, I’m free. I’ll come over right now.”
She hung up and drove to the location. She arrived before the renovation staff and walked around inside the wellness center alone.
The area was very spacious. It was over 2,000 square feet wide.
A sly voice sounded out behind Janice while she was lost in her thoughts.
“Wow, what a hot chic!”
Janice turned and found a chubby man staring at her pervertedly. He was dressed in overalls, reeking of sweat.
Janice frowned and suppressed her disgust. She asked icily, “Who are you, and what do you want?”
“Don’t be afraid. I just think you’re gorgeous, so I wanted to get to know you better,” said the man as he closed the distance.
Alarm bells rang in Janice’s head, and she instinctively moved backward. However, she found herself trapped in the corner of the room.
“Get… get away from me! Janice yelled. She pretended to be calm, but her voice trembled slightly.
“Stop resisting and do as I say. I promise it’ll feel good…” said the man and grabbed Janice’s arm.
She reacted quickly. Grabbing the man’s forearm, she twisted it forcefully. He shouted in pain.
Janice took the chance to escape, but he grabbed her by the hair and flung her to the ground.
“Bitch! You want to do this the hard way, huh?” barked the man. He advanced on Janice like a starving well.

She opened her eyes in confusion and saw a tall person standing in front of here a shield. The renovation staff was lying on his side and howling in pain.

“Malcolm?” asked Janice in shock.
He ignored her and stared at the pervert stonily, “Get lost!”
Terrified, the man nearly wet himself. He scrambled to his feet and fled
Malcolm looked like the Grim Reaper, and he stared at Janice with a piercing gaze. He asked mockingly, “Feel lonely already? You found yourself a man so quickly, but I didn’t think you’d be so desperate.”

Sliding a finger down Malcolm’s check, she asked provocatively, “What’s the matter? Jealous? I just wanted to try out other men to see if they’re just as useless as you are.”
Malcolm grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward him. “Janice!” he snarled through gritted teeth.
