It felt like my throat was stuffed with damp cotton, constricting my voice.
I struggled to speak, my tone heavy with despair, “If I hadn’t found out the truth, were you planning to care for Meryl while pretending everything was fine with me?
“Logan, you may not have thought about leaving me, but you’ve made me the most shameful mistress.”
Finally, I saw a crack in his facade. Logan’s parents and mine were business partners, and we had known each other since middle school.
I still remembered the earthquake in high school when we were both buried under the rubble.
When I was on the brink of exhaustion, he protected me, sharing the little food and water we had left.
When I was nearly unconscious, Logan tirelessly called my name, urging me to stay awake and keep fighting.
From that moment, he had taken root in my heart.
In my junior year, I finally mustered the courage to confess my feelings.
But then he showed up, hand in hand with Meryl.
Chapter 2
It broke my heart, but I could only force a smile.
I witnessed Logan’s deepest love for Meryl, and I also saw his. despair and loneliness when she left him.
I was there for him during his darkest days.
It wasn’t until two years after his breakup with Meryl that I finally found my way into his heart.

For years, I poured every ounce of strength and love into Logan, believing I was finally going to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
But that marriage license shattered all my hopes and dreams.
Meryl had taken just two months to undo years of my effort.
In the end, it came down to this: Logan didn’t love me enough.
If he truly loved me, how could he bear to put me in such a humiliating position?
