Chapter 11
Mark caught up with me quickly.
He wore a resigned smile. “Natalie, why are you running away?
“I’m not a monster. I won’t bite you, you know.”
My mind was a whirl, and I tried to explain, “It’s not like that. You’re just being ridiculous.”
Mark said, gazing at me earnestly, “But I’m serious, Natalie, I like you. I want to be with you.”
We’d only known each other for two months, but we really got to know each other over the past month.
Setting aside the fact that I wasn’t looking to start a new relationship right now, it still seemed too soon.
Plus, Mark was five years younger than me. At his age, the future was full of uncertainties.
Mark, however, said, “A couple of days ago, you said I was as mature as your dad. Now you’re complaining that I’m too young?”
Well, it wasn’t so much about complaining.
I just thought we weren’t quite a match.

Mark’s expression turned pitiful, and he softened his tone. “At least you don’t hate me, right?”
I definitely didn’t hate him.
I nodded.
Mark probed gently, “So, can you at least give me a chance to pursue you?”
I wanted to refuse.
But his eyes were locked onto mine, and I found myself unable to say no.
Seeing my reluctant nod, Mark broke into a beaming smile, his eyes and expression lighting up with relief.
At that moment, my heart softened a little, too.
