Chapter 10
Mark was strikingly handsome, one of those people who stand out in any crowd. Wherever he went, he was always the center of attention.
Girls would flock around him with enthusiasm, only to leave dejected when Mark didn’t show any interest.
One day, I overheard two girls grumbling, “This guy is so aloof. He won’t even add me on WhatsApp. He doesn’t even smile!”
It dawned on me that Mark’s demeanor towards women was consistently polite yet distant.
His carefree, bold smile seemed to be reserved solely for me.
That day, after turning down the third girl, Mark leaned in close and pouted a bit.
“Natalie, they’re so annoying. Could you help me out next time and shoo them away?”
I was taken aback. “How am I supposed to do that?”
He grinned mischievously, saying, “I’ll just tell them you’re my girlfriend. They’ll back off for sure.”
I figured he was just joking.

Mark’s expression grew a bit serious, but he didn’t push it further.

Later that night, at a chill bar, he took the stage and sang a song for me.
It was a song called “Only Want to Be With You“.
His voice was smooth and melodious, like a delicate cello caressing the heart.
Throughout the song, his gaze never left me.
His eyes had that special, lingering look that seemed to speak volumes.
When Mark finished, he looked straight at me, holding the microphone, and made a heartfelt confession.
Cheers erupted around us, and everyone’s eyes were on me.
My heart skipped a beat.
Mark walked towards me.
With each step he took, my heartbeat quickened.
Panicking, I grabbed my bag and hurriedly fled the bar.
