Chapter 4
The veins on Hugo’s neck were bulging, his chest heaving violently.
Beside him, Bella covered her forehead with her hands, tears welling in her eyes.
Hugo turned to see this scene, then turned back to me and said coldly: “Sophia, don’t you Understand what I’m saying?”
My gaze grew colder as I let the blood freely drip down my face.
Noticing something was wrong, a flash of panic finally crossed his eyes, but he still frowned
as he examined me.
Bella spoke weakly, trying to mediate: “Don’t fight because of me, I’m really fine.”
“I’m sorry, Sophia. If I had known, I wouldn’t have come back with Mr. Roberts. I just thought it would be better if I came to explain in person…”
As she spoke, she actually walked over to me.
She bent down and reached out to help me up, but the moment she touched my arm, I violently shook her off.
The force was so strong that her hand hit the corner of the cabinet behind her, making her groan in pain.
Hugo anxiously took her hand, carefully examining where it had been hit red, only turning to glare at me after confirming it wasn’t serious.
“Sophia, don’t be so ungrateful!”
“Do you know what Bella has sacrificed for your fake wedding? If you keep being unreasonable, I’ll expose your lies in front of your father at your makeup wedding!”
Makeup wedding?
I couldn’t help but laugh mockingly.
Chapter 4
“May I ask what she sacrificed? Wanting to take my place as your bride at the wedding?
How noble of her.”
I clapped for Bella, blood flowing down along my mocking smile.
“Hugo, a makeup wedding, don’t you find that ridiculous? Don’t bother, it won’t be needed
anymore, ever!”
My voice was unprecedentedly cold.
His gaze fell on my face, looking as if he wanted to bore holes through it with his stare.
He thought I was just acting jealous like before, putting on a show.
But now everything was more real than gold.
He spoke through gritted teeth:
“Sophia, my patience with you is very limited. Think carefully before you speak to me.”
“Don’t forget this is what you begged for! Once this chance passes, there won’t be another!”
“Wasn’t it your father’s dying wish to see you marry me? Now it’s not anymore? How can you face him?”
I looked up with mockery in my eyes: “When were you ever infinitely patient with me? I’ve thought it through clearly. Thank you for your kindness, but neither my father nor I are blessed enough to receive it. Just save the wedding for someone who needs it.”
As I finished, I coldly smiled at Bella.
Hearing my sarcastic tone, Hugo narrowed his eyes and probed: “Not blessed enough? Or afraid of being exposed that your father’s terminal illness was fake?”
“I know I was wrong to miss the wedding I promised you. I’ve already arranged for hospital specialists to consult for your father. Why don’t you need the wedding now? What kind of terminal illness is so afraid of the light?”
In an instant, all the blood in my body froze. I clenched my fists with all my might, my knuckles trembling.

Chapter 4
“Hugo, shut up! What right do you have to talk about my father’s dying wish?”
“My father’s dying wish was to see me happy, not to marry you!”
“Who do you think you are? How dare you use his life to put on a show? What consultation nonsense, I don’t need it, my father doesn’t need it! Stop pretending to be kind!”
“From today on, we have nothing to do with each other! We don’t need to see each other ever again!”
With each sentence I spoke, Hugo’s face darkened.
Finally, it turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
He squeezed words out through his teeth:
“Sophia, I warn you to think carefully about every word you say! Your father got a terminal illness, so did you inherit senile dementia? Or did your brain run away from home?”
I watched his lips move, and all the love I once had turned into endless hatred in this
moment,
Hugo made a call to the wedding company.
“Cancel the wedding venue that was re–booked yesterday, and from now on, prohibit any woman named Sophia from having any activities at your venue! No matter whose wedding it is, don’t accept it!”
“Otherwise, you can all close down your company and go back to farming!”
After hanging up, he immediately dialed another number.
“Cancel the specialist consultation I arranged for Ms. Sophia last night right now.”
The other end paused for a moment before replying:
“I’m sorry, but Ms. Sophia’s consultation was cancelled yesterday. The patient has already passed away.”
