Chapter 32 Still Liking You After Struggling
Ingrid’s rented apartment didn’t have a dining table, nor even a coffee table. There was just a small, foldable desk that she used for both work and meals. The two bowds of noodles barely ( on the cramped surface
She thought Jasper might be uncomfortable with the setup. After all, Brandon had come to her place once, only to insist afterward that she always go to his instead
But Jasper not only are heartily, he actually seemed to enjoy it
“This table is interesting. First time I’ve seen one like it. Send me the Enk later. I want to get one too.”
Ingrid replied, “Just give me your address, and I’ll boy one for you”
show of modesty. “Oh, I couldn’t possibly trouble you like that
Ingrid was deadpan. “You can just transfer me the money.”
Jasper held out his hand. “Hand out”
Ingrid was confused but still extended her hand
Jasper pretended to reach into his pocket, then placed his empty hand in hers. “Here is a blank check. Fill in whatever amount you want.”
I took Ingrida second to realize he was just messing around. She was the idiot for taking it seriously
She lowered her head and focused on eating her noodles. Her mood wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t excellent either. She still had to go to the hospital soon.
Even if Brandon was in the wrong, Jasper had been the one to throw the punch. For the sake of appearances, the hospital would likely punish both sides.
She needed to explain things to the higher–ups. Even if Jasper had to take the fall, she couldn’t let him take the full blame. She had to bear at least half with him Just as she was deep in thought, Jasper’s phone rang
He answered, “Dr. Zimmerman.”
Ingrid instinctively looked up. In the orthopedic department, there was only one Dr. Zimmerman–the head of the department.
She couldn’t hear what Aindey was saying, but after a while, Jasper responded, “I was planning to come to your office after your shift starts to explain in person.” Seeing Ingrid string curiously, he switched to speakerphone
Ainsley’s voice filled the room. “No need I know you had a late–night surgery. Get some rest
“I just wanted to tell you not to rush. I’m already aware of the situation. I’ll speak with both Mr.Geppard and Ingrid first”
Jasper said, “Ingrid is with me. We were planning to head over together”
Ainsley hesitated for a moment before quickly saying “Noned, no need You both just fed a long night shift. Get some test.
“Trust me. I’ll handle this fairly. I won’t just listen to one side of the story.
Jasper smiled. “Of course, I trust you.”
After a few more polite exchanges, the call ended
Jasper turned to Ingrid. “You heard him. No need to rush to the hospital Eat up, then get some sleep”
Ingrid said, “Thank you”
Jasper raised an eyebrow, “What’s with the sudden gratitude?”
Ingrid looked at him seriously. “If you hadn’t stepped in everyone would just be laughing at me alone. Now they’ll have to watch you and Brandon’s drama instead.” Jasper frowned. “Don’t lump me together with him. Ruins my appetite”
Ingrid sighed. “You knew I dated him before, but you still insisted on getting involved in this mess!
Jasper lifted his bowl of noodles with a smirk. “Good thing I did. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known you could cook this well. Looks like I got the better end of the deal” With that he dug in, eating with gusto
And held she wasn’t romantic? Jasper wasn’t exactly sophisticated either.
Ingrid lowered her gaze. Fating from the same pot of noodles as Jasper, the suddenly thought that maybe he really did like her.
Who said two suns had to be together? Maybe a so–called genius like Jasper just preferred someone more grounded. Besides, she wasn’t lacking on her own
No need to let a past mistake make her afraid of trying again. Not all men were like Brandon. That kind of selfish, untrustworthy person wasn’t the standard but an unfortunate exception. Maybe Jasper was life’s way of making up for that mistake,
Jasper suddenly asked, “What are you thinking about?TM
Ingrid met his gaze and answered Tonestly, “You”
Jasper grinned. “Goon.”
“Are we in a relationship now?”
