Chapter 12 Not a Misunderstanding
Chapter 12 Not a Misunderstanding
Just before 6:00 am, a patient was transferred from the emergency department to the surgery department. It was a car accident victim with a fractured leg Jasper was the lead surgeon. Ingrid had always thought he specialized solely in spinal surgery, but only later did she learn that he was proficient in Lareas of orthopedics, except for hand and foot surgery. Anyone in the medical field knew how difficult it was to master even one specialty. The genluses were simply in a league of their own, but there was always someone more talented out there, even among the best.
By 8:00 am.. Ingrid had finished up and was ready to leave when her phone rang. The number on the screen wasn’t saved in her contacts, but she knew who was calling. Her heart skipped a
She went to a quieter spot before answering the call “Dr. Chil
“I’m waiting for you at the entrance,” Jasper said
Ingrid was nervous. “Is something wrong?”
“Don’t you want breakfast?”
The words shipped out before she could think “I don’t.”
“Then you can treat me,” he replied.
If he had said, “Let me buy you brealdast.” Ingrid would have refused without hesitation Instead, he had flipped it around
She owed him a favor, and a fresh one at that
As Ingrid headed downstairs, she was careful. She was worried that Jasper might be standing right outside the orthopedics department brazenly.
Fortunately, the lobby was empty. She quickened her pace toward the hospital’s main doors. When she was several feet away from the entrance, she spotted a striking figure standing by the security booth.
Jasper had taken off his white cot and was dressed casually. No one would have guessed he was a doctor
With a cap and a mask, he could have easily been mistaken for a celebrity sneaking into the hospital for a checkup
When doctors arriving for their morning shifts passed by, they greeted Jasper. These people included heads and deputy heads of various departments.
Just as Ingrid was about to lower her head and slip past unnoticed, Jasper turned his head and raised a band, “Over here.”
With all eyes on her, Ingrid walked forward, feeling an unfamiliar sense of self–consciousness. She wasn’t unattractive, but she wasn’t stunning. Her figure was fine, but she wasn’t a model. Jasper was a department head, while she was merely a compatent nurse And as for their backgrounds. It was best not to think about it
At that moment, the hospital’s deputy director–Flynn Dulaney–stepped out of a car. “Hadbrealdast yet? Tynn asked
Jasper smiled. Just about to with a friend”
Flynn’s gaze naturally Landed on Ingrid, and he led knowingly
There weren’t any familiar faces from orthopedics around, but Ingrid still felt asking feeling in her stomach.
About ten minutes later, she and jasper were seated as from each other in a small shop selling spaghetti.
The food arrived quickly, Jasper took a bite and nodded. “Authentic.”
“The owner’s from Wales City,” Ingrid said “The spaghetti tastes just like the ones I had growing up.”
Jasper said, “I lived in Wales City for over a year as a kid. When we moved back to Yansborough, I couldn’t get used to the lighter flavors. My grandfather used to joke that I should marry a Wales Ciry girl when I grew up.”
Ingrid kept her tone casual. “There are a lot of beautiful women in Wales City. You should visit sometime.”
