Chapter 81
A small growl pierced the sudden silence. Just then, a light grey wolf entered the courtyard. Its fur seemed to glisten as it made its way towards us. It was slightly smaller than
Eminence and Ragnar were.
Its eyes glanced over all the people present before they finally landed on me. Small eyes widened into saucers and it made its way to me with great agility.
“Hello.” I greeted the wolf with a small smile.
The wolf stopped before me and gave me a high five with its front paws. The grey wolf’s eyes glistened with something that looked like happiness.
Without thinking, I wrapped my arms around him. Eminence and Ragnar looked curious at the scene that was playing out.
“Who’s wolf is that?” Froste was the first to break the silence.
Askhan looked in the direction the grey wolf had come out from. Olavir slowly walked out
of the corner.
A small smile appeared on his face when his eyes landed on me. “Adella. There you are. I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
I looked at the grey wolf that was wagging its tail at me excitedly. It was a surprise that the wolf had understood me.
The simple gesture of wrapping my arms around it had already portrayed all the words I
wanted to say.
“How did you know I was here?” I turned to Olavir who had been silently watching the interaction between us.
He shrugged. “Call it intuition.”
He glanced at Froste and then at Askhan before turning his gaze to their wolves. The puzzles seemed to fit behind his eyes and he immediately understood what was going on.
There was a sad look in his eyes now as he watched me. “Once upon a time, when you were a little girl, you used to love this game.”
