Chapter 72
Chapter 72
All I could do was stare at Haelor, mouth open and wonder what the hell was wrong with
him. I’d never seen him act this way before.
He was always so stoic and calm, never quite acting out of character. This…this was just
unexpected.
Even Froste looked like he was finding it hard to get over his shock. His mouth was wide open as he stared at his clothes.
The coffee had complete drenched him. If Haelor was even the slightest bit remorseful
about what he’d done, he didn’t look keen on showing it.
“You failed to protect Adella in the moment she needed it.” Haelor’s voice was hard as he spoke. “You never protected her those years, leaving her alone to fend for herself in a world that was hell bent on tearing her apart. Now you show up spouting some bullshit about missing her.”
“Haelor.” I tried to call out to him but the anger had probably clouded his hearing as the only person he was staring at was Froste.
“Don’t bother showing up in Adella’s presence if you’re not capable of protecting her.” Het said, his tone cold and unwelcoming.
Froste was silent, his eyes occasionally going down to his clothes that had been drenched in coffee. Some onlookers had stopped what they were doing to stare at Froste, a few of them
whispering in hushed tones and pointing.
I could only imagine how embarrassing it must have been for him.
Haelor continued to speak. “This time it’s just a harmless liquid, but if you dare
again, it’ll be a silver bullet through your skull.”
upset Adella
His words had never no room for doubt. I felt a chill run down my spine. I didn’t think I’d ever seen Haelor this way. I knew he was an efficient war general. This however, this was a
part of him that made enemies tremble and double over.

I’d expected Froste to be unable to even meet his gaze but he seemed to be doing a pretty good job of holding out.
He was staring at Haelor, his eyes glinting with something that looked like conviction.
“I know I can’t go back in time to right all my wrongs. If I did, I swear on my life I would have gone a long time ago. I’d have fixed all my mistakes.” He said, his tone having hints of
remorse.
We didn’t come here to hear you bitch about your mistakes.” Haelor glowered at him. He didn’t look like he was having any of what Froste was going on about.
“I know, and I completely respect that.” Froste’s gaze flickered to me. “I promise to protect you whenever I see you in future. I’d have my limbs torn apart five times over before I let any harm come to you, Adella. I promise you that.”
As crazy as it sounded, I felt my heart beating faster upon hearing his words. It was both annoying and unnecessary but it wouldn’t stop. It annoyed me to no end knowing his words were still having some sort of effect on me.
Still, it seemed Haelor had calmed down upon hearing his words. He looked less hostile than he had before, opting to take his seat now, his face looking reasonably calm to some
extent.
Froste began to speak again. “The real reason I called you here is to inform you that your first day of school has been scheduled.”
My heart skipped a bit upon hearing those words. It was finally happening. The day I’d dreamed of was finally here.
I could feel my happiness growing as seconds passed. With it however, came the nerves of what my first day at the Royal Academy would be like.
“I can’t wait.” I finally said, unable to hold back a smile.
Froste had a soft look in his eyes as he watched me. He looked genuinely happy for me. I didn’t know if was because he still had a soft spot for me or if it was because he wanted to see me at the Royal Academy.
“We appreciate the news.” Haelor said curtly, folding his arms.
