Chapter 68
Chapter 68
She looked at me, putting on an act of her composure crumbling. She sucked in a deep. breath and straightened her posture.
“You’re nothing but a liar. I should have never accepted you into this organization.”
Without giving it a second thought, I stepped forward, closing the distance between us and
raising my hand. The crack of the slap seemed to echo through the hall. Everybody was
stunned. Her face was still whipped to the side from how hard I’d slapped her.
She slowly turned to me, a look of disbelief in her eyes as she nursed her cheek. I glared at
her, unwilling to cower before anyone ever again.
“She bullied me and won’t admit to it? Fine.” I turned to the crowd. “I won’t admit to slapping her then.”
The nobleman looked visibly disturbed. The whispers in the room grew louder, most of
them still surprised that I had slapped her.
I turned to Askhan. “Did I slap her?”
Askhan frowned. “What? You did no such thing.”
I inwardly smile. I knew I could count on Askhan to pull through for me when the time came. Agnrs face turned red with anger.
She turned to Froste, hoping he’d defend her. “Did you see that? She just slapped me unprovoked. What kind of person does that?”
Froste simply stared at her before shaking his head. “Just admit to your wrongdoings Agnrs. All this drama is unnecessary. It’s gone on long enough.”
Agnrs was fuming. She had probably been expecting Froste to side with her but he’d repeatedly dashed her hopes over and over again. It was almost pitiful seeing her this way.
I should have felt bad. But seeing her so broken and shattered at the realization that he
wasn’t supporting her felt oddly satisfying.

The tension in the room was growing thicker. The crowd seemed divided as some people threw their support behind me while others were intent on standing behind Agnrs.
Noise and chaos dwelled on the whole place. I could see the whole thing escalating into anarchy. That wasn’t what I’d gone there for.
“Silence!”
The whole place went dead quiet. Concise footsteps echoed through the room as Haelor
alked in. His fearsome and ruthless reputation made it that no one dared utter a word or
step forward to challenge him.
The crowd cleared a path for him, none of them wanting to be in the line of his anger.
Haelor looked around as he passed, stopping in front of us.
His gaze lingered on me for a moment before he turned to Agnrs. His eyes were cold and
unwelcoming as he spoke. “You’re so confident in what you’re saying aren’t you?”
She was too scared to even muster any reply. He continued speaking. “Fine then. Let’s go to the royal court and have this settled properly.”
Agnrs eyes widened. All her composure had immediately shattered. I could see the glint of fear in her eyes.
“Ridiculous. I won’t go anywhere with you.”
She didn’t bother waiting for a reply as she hurriedly stomped away. Her action screamed
‘scared‘ and that much was obvious to her supporters. They all looked baffled that she was
choosing to run away.
“I quit!” I yelled out to her. “And your lousy real estate company is heading for bankruptcy
soon. Just you wait and see.”
I turned back to Haelor who’s gaze was fixed on Froste. He looked annoyed as he watched
the man who had been my former mate.
“Why are you so intent on bringing more trouble to Adella?” He asked, his tone sharp and uncompromising. “Haven’t you put her through enough already?”
Froste looked remorseful at Haelor’s words. “You’re right. It seems that’s about the only

thing I’m good at doing.”
He turned to me. “I’m sorry for all the trouble I’ve unknowingly caused you, Adella. None of this was my intention. Notwithstanding, I take full responsibility for what happened. I won’t cause you any more problems in the future.”
I let out a breath. While his apology was appreciated, it really didn’t seem necessary. Not now at least. The deed had already been done.

gnrs had gotten away without even admitting to her crimes and she’d almost succeeded at incriminating me.
Still, Froste had done something I hadn’t expected him to do. Despite Agnrs throwing herself before him, he’d chosen to stand beside me and supported me without question. That was something I found really endearing.
“It doesn’t matter.” I said, my tone sharp and clear. “He just firmly supported me during everything that happened.”
Haelor remained silent, taking in my words. He was looking at Froste with an unreadable
expression.
“I was her biggest supporter, you know.” Askhan interjected.
I laughed, patting his shoulder, “Of course. That’s why we’re best friends you know.”
His eyes seemed to sparkle as those words left my lips.
