Chapter 48
Chapter 48
His eyes landed on me.]
“Is something the matter?” He asked.
“I was just wondering why I didn’t make the cut. I believe I met all the requirements and expectations.” I stated calmly.]
“It’s true.” Froste stepped forward. “She passed all the criteria. Why wasn’t her name on the list?“[]
The man’s gaze was fixed on me. There was a certain glint in his eyes that made me shift from one feet to another.[]
“Yes. Why aren’t you on the list?”
“Exactly my point.” Askhan agreed, his tone loud as he tried to convey his opinion. The man was staring at me with a look of intrigue in his eyes.
“Yes,” the man cocked his cocked his head to the side, “This is rather unexpected. I’d have thought you of all people would have made the cut.“]
I nodded my head in agreement. It felt strangely good to have him understand what I meant. He was supporting me. He also believed I should have been on that list.]
“We have to do something about this,” Froste continued. “We can’t just let the chances of such a good prospective student go to waste like that.”
“Agreed.” The man nodded his head. “Something definitely went wrong with that list and I intend to find out what happened.“[]
He beckoned on us to follow him and we did just that. Froste took a quick glance at me. His eyes were dark and unreadable. I had no idea what he was thinking about or what he wanted. He turned away eventually.
“We’ll need to meet with the elders and have a proper discussion on this matter.” The man said, taking long strides as he led us to where I had no idea.]
As we made our way through the crowd, I could hear the whispers and murmurs of the nobles present.
“She’s really lucky?“]
“Isn’t she?”
“She has His Royal Highness and the Elder’s best student trying to figure out what to do about her grade.“]
“That’s amazing.”
I ignored all of them, keeping my gaze forward and making sure I stuck close to Askhan. There was a sense of safety and comfort I felt just having him by my side.
“Yeah right,” Tina scoffed. “Adella doesn’t have any hope with whoever is here anyway. There’s no way she’s getting back on that list. Do you know why?”
I turned to Tina whose gaze was already fixed on me. “That’s because she’s nothing but a lowly peasant masquerading as a

princess.“]
A smirk grew on her lips. I knew what she was trying to do. She was trying to antagonize me, get me to react and lash out angrily. Too bad she wouldn’t get what she wanted.[]
I rolled my eyes at her antics. One thing I’d learned over the years was that some people just weren’t worth your attention. Tina was one of those people.
Alan who had been watching the whole thing slowly crossed the room, making his way to Tina. He was surrounded by a lot of noble young masters and ladies.[]
Tina’s eyes widened as Alan stopped before her. “Alan.“[]
“Ah, Miss Tina” Alan smiled. “I remember you?”
She gasped out of excitement. “Really?”
He nodded. “Yes. How could I ever forget you? You always found it so hard to perform even the most basic dance steps. It’s no wonder that you’ve always been the clown of the banquet.“]
Tina’s face heated up. She looked flushed with embarrassment and anger. The fact that she wasn’t deny it or even coming up with a retort meant that all what he was saying was the plain truth.[]
“Maybe next time focus on not dancing like a chicken.” One of Alan’s companions laughed.]
“That’s if she doesn’t trip on the hem of her own gown.” Another one laughed.
Tina’s face seemed even more reddened. She looked utterly humiliated. I turned away from them and looked in the direction the others had gone through.
I had to go there now. This could be what decided if I got to see my wolf or not. I was about to head in that direction when Agnrs popped up in front of me.[]
“Hello, Adella.” She greeted with a smile.
“Hello.” I answered, not sure exactly what I wanted to say.
She seemed friendly which was a bit unexpected to me. Maybe I had misjudged her after all. It could be that she was actually a nice person once you got to know her.]
“Do you know Froste?” she asked.
“Excuse me.” I felt a bit taken aback by her question.
“Do you know Froste?” she repeated. “He seems to care about your grades. Even going as far as questioning the validity of the exam.”
It was true. Froste was sticking his neck out for me and this was something he hadn’t done for any other participant here. He did it just for me.
