I turned to Askhan who was still glaring at Alan. “Why don’t you come help me find my maid?“]
“Your maid?” Askhan asked, looking confused. “Why?” |
“I need her to retouch my make–up for me.” I replied.[]
I turned to Alan who was carefully watching us. “Go say hello to your other friends. They look like they’re waiting for you.“[]
Alan looked back at the group of people who were occasionally glancing at him, waiting for him to be done with talking to us. He looked like he didn’t want to leave just yet.[]
“I’ll wait for the both of you here.” I said to them.]
They both glared at each other briefly before turning away to go do what I asked. I couldn’t help but sigh as I watched the backs of the two men. They were always so childish when it came to things that didn’t even require it.[]
I turned to see Froste standing. He wasn’t alone. There was a woman standing next to him. She was elegant and noble in every single way. You could tell just by looking at her. She wasn’t just a normal commoner.]
“Is that her?” someone next to me whispered.[]
“It is,” another person agreed. “Froste is such a good match for Agnrs.“[]
I looked back at them. He looked incredibly engulfed in that conversation. I couldn’t help but think of what my mother–in–law had said to me.[]
She’d been so hell bent on setting up Froste with a noble girl that would exactly to her liking. That was why she’d even set me up in the first place. So she’d managed to succeed at that.[]
Agnrs was definitely the write pick. She looked elegant and beautiful.[]
I couldn’t help but mentally compare myself with her. I was just an ordinary woman. I had none of the temperament of a noble girl. [
Just when I thought of turning away, my eyes landed on Tina. She was with one of her servants, excitedly chatting away. Her scent was strong and it hit me like a wall of bricks. I hadn’t expected it to be so…pungent.]
“I love your scent.” Another noble lady complimented her.
“It was given to me by the Queen Luna.” She said proudly.
I shook my head and turned away. I had more important things to do and it didn’t include Tina and her bullshit.]
Just when I started to leave, Tina stopped me. She had a cruel smirk on her face as she made her way closer to me. “You’ve never met the Queen Luna, have you?“]
When I didn’t respond to her taunts, she continued to speak. “It’s a shame you’ll never get this kind of reward.”
“Oh really?” I rolled my eyes. “I won’t get the perfume, yes, but at least I won’t experience getting expelled from an exam before I even get to take it.”

Tina’s confident smirk dropped and her face became flush with anger. “I don’t care about this messy exam. You think I care if I pass it?”
She cackled, turning back to look at me. “It doesn’t matter. None of it matters. Whether I pass or not won’t change the fact that I’m a noble lady.”
I narrowed my eyes on her and turned away. I’d come here with a purpose and it sure as hell wasn’t to put up with Tina’s antics.
Just then, I saw Froste and Agnrs making their way to the dance floor. Froste looked completely enamoured with her, like she was the only thing worth his focus in the room.]
I couldn’t help the thought that crossed my mind: Is he going to dance with her?]
Before I even realized it, I had turned away from them. Even if they wanted to dance together, I wasn’t about to see it.[]
Froste could have his fun dancing with her for all I cared. I refused to watch any of it. I tried to turn my focus back to Tina. It didn’t matter if I was unhappy with Froste being with another woman. He could have whoever he wanted.]
After all, I was the one who turned down a mate relationship with him in the first place. I tried to put my focus back on Tina.
“I am a noble lady, you hear me.” Tina’s voice was loud and grating to my ears. I couldn’t stand here and listen to her spouting our rubbish. Maybe I could head somewhere else.
Without another word, I turned away from her and made my way through the crowd. It was then I saw Askhan approaching. He’d brought a maid with him.[]
“I got you a maid.” Askhan said with a smile.[]
The woman bowed to me and she got to work on fixing up my dress and make–up.
“Thank you.” I said politely.
The maid looked surprised by what I’d said. She got over it pretty quick ad bowed her head. “Thank you, Miss Adella.“]
She continued to sort out my outfit and went to work on retouching my make–up. By the time she was done, I felt as fresh as I’d been before when I first came to the place. Maybe even better. []
She bowed once more before leaving. Just then, the lights slowly dimmed. A center light shone on the stage and a middle–aged man walked on to it.]
He stood in front of the microphone, eagerly surveying the crowd of people that were present at this event. He was wearing the robes of the Royal Academy. He leaned closer to the microphone and began to speak.[]
“I will now announce the names of all those that will enter the third round of the exams.“[]
