Chapter 40
“We’ve got about a hundred of them working on gowns for you, so your outfit should be ready no doubt.” He turned to me. “You can choose whichever one you like.“[]
I frowned as my eyes went over all the dresses that had been made. I didn’t like that they were putting so much resources into this.
“As much as I appreciate this,” I started carefully. “I don’t think this is what I want.“[]
“Why?” Greyven frowned.]
“We could have used the labour force and other resources to create more wealth for the family. I’m fine with just going out to shop for what I need.“[]
Halven looked uncertain. “Are you sure?”
“Yes.” I answered, rising up from my seat.]
“You’re definitely right about it.” Greyven agreed with me, a small smile on his face.
“Sis,” Olavir started. “You’re working yourself too hard. You need to take it easy.“|]
“A woman can never feel she’s working too hard when it comes to shopping.”
Greyven nodded, taking in all what I’d said. “Alright then. I’ll come with you.”
“Already ahead of you, bro.” Olavir got up from his seat, making his way to me.[]
“I’m coming to.” Halven piped in.[]
Just as Merhold was about to talk as well, I quickly piped in. “I think there’s enough of us.“]
Olavir snickered. “It’s a good thing the four haven’t come back yet, otherwise the competition would really be too fierce.”
Eventually I was able to get away from the house and got to do the shopping on my own. The place was stacked with all the materials I would need for my gown.[]
As soon as my mood landed on a particular someone, I frowned. Tina. She wasn’t alone wither. Cyrene was by her side, smirking like a sly cat.]
I ignored her and started picking up my items. Her presence was like a constant shadow. After a while, I noticed something laughable.
She was picking any item I took. I tested it once again by taking a blue silk material. She looked around for one and hurriedly took it.]
“You’re nothing but a showpiece.” I raised my eyes as she started to talk.
“You’re lucky enough to be picked up by the richest family in the pack. That’s why you have access to blowing off all that money.” Her voice dropped even lower. “That’s why you’re so broke.“]

I sucked in a deep breath and tried to stay calm. She would not be getting the best of me. I turned away from her and continued with my shopping.[]
By the time I was done, I had taken almost everything in the luxury shop. Tina had spared nothing and was doing the same as well.
I made my way to the checkout and they calculated my total amount. Tina’s face twisted into a sneer when she realized I had taken too many things which had costed an exorbitant amount.[]
“I don’t have enough money for that.” She mumbled sub–consciously. She turned to me, an angry expression on her face.
“You made me buy all this on purpose!” She yelled in rage.
“Oh really?” I scoffed. “You’re a real orphan, aren’t you? Turns out you’re just a halfway orphan like me.“]
She looked around at the people who were watching everything unfold. Her cheeks turned pink in embarrassment and she took out her card, thrusting it in the face of the salesman.]
When he tried to debit her card, his brows furrowed. Tina looked surprised when he handed her the card back.]
“Insufficient funds.” He replied blandly. “And you’re yet to pay off your remaining debt.“]
Her cheeks reddened even more. She looked embarrassed.]
“No way,” she argued. “That’s simply not possible.“]
The salesman didn’t look moved at all. Cyrene who had been silent all this while tried to persuade Tina.
“Look, Tina, I’m sure this is all j-”
Tina slapped her hard across the face before she could finish her sentence. She sent her a nasty glare like she was nothing but garbage.
I felt my anger rise. “How dare you hit a member of the richest family in the pack?”
“Oh shut up.” She scoffed, laughing bitterly. “This fool isn’t a member of the richest family. And neither are you.‘
She stepped forward. “I am going to smash you all. I will smash your noses right into your disgusting faces.”
I was about to give her a fitting reply when I stopped. She hadn’t noticed him yet but I could see him.
Greyven was coming towards us. And he looked pissed.
Tina was too busy ranting to notice Greyven’s slow, approaching presence. Her face was contorted in anger as she glared from me to Cyrene, and then to the salesman.]
i knew what she was doing quite well. She was putting on a show. She was doing this for the onlookers. She wanted to use this as a chance to establish some non–existent power she thought she had.
She turned to the salesman. “These people are the low status wolves. They can’t even afford the luxuries in this store without leeching off other people in the pack.”
“I’m the princess of the second richest family in the pack.” She announced loudly, so everybody would hear.[]

Tina turned to me. “My family owns this building. I could have you,” she turned to Cyrene and shot her a nasty glare. “And this mutt thrown out of here with a snap of my fingers.“||
