“I’ll show Adella my gift first.” Askhan announced before clapping his hands twice.]
Immediately, some maids arrived with a beautiful dark blue gown, decorated with precious stones. Adella didn’t think she’d ever seen anything like it before.]
“Boring.” Haelor yawned. He turned to his servant and nodded his head.[]
Not a moment later, the man came back with a jewelry box. When he opened it in front of me, I felt my stomach flutter with butterflies.
“Jewelry, fit for a princess like you.” Haelor did a small bow.]
I couldn’t help but stare in shock at the gifts that were laid out in front of me.[]
“How much did it cost to get this?” The words flew out of my mouth before I even realized it.
“This dress,” Askhan gestured at the gown. “Was made by a hundred seamstresses. It took them six months to make this. A beautiful gown for a beautiful princess.”
I swallowed down, processing what he’d just said. As much as I appreciated the gift, I couldn’t help but frown.]
“Thank you for the gift, Askhan but don’t you think all that manpower and resources could have been used to increase our wealth? That would have been far more valuable if you ask me.‘
Haelor cleared his throat and turned to his Adjutant. The man brought the jewelry box and displayed the jewelry set to me.
It was a beautiful silver jewelry set that had blood red jewels on them. Haelor continued to speak.
“This set was harvested by the General when he destroyed a vampire clan. It is a precious antique.“[]
My eyes immediately lit up as I saw the jewelry set. I couldn’t take my eyes off it even if I want to.[]
“Let me put in on for you.” []
Haelor grabbed the jewelry and put it on for me. My face was beaming as I looked down at the beautiful jewelry I’d been decorated in.
“It’s beautiful.‘
I looked up to see Askhan looking deflated. He looked upset at the fact that I’d preferred Haelor’s gift over his.]
I put on a small smile on my face and made my way to him.[]
“It’s okay, Askhan. No need to look so down.”
When he still didn’t reply, I continued to speak. “How about this? I’ll take this dress but next time please just focus such resources on maximizing our wealth, okay?”
“Okay.” His face brightened up at my words.
Chapter 23
The sound of my ringtone cut through the silence. I looked at the phone, a feeling of dread creeping up my spine.
I had the same mobile phone as Froste. I’d set this ringtone to be exclusively from one person.
Froste.
I let out a sigh I didn’t know I’d been holding and picked up the phone. I didn’t know what to expect by receiving a call so I prepared myself for the worst.
“Why are you calling me?” I said, not bothering to beat about the bush.]
“There’s a problem, Adella. I need your help.” Froste’s voice was filled with desperation.[]
“Last time I checked, I didn’t have any reason to listen to you or even bother with any problems that you might have.” I scoffed.
“This is serious, Adella.” Froste sighed in frustration. “It’s the company. There’s an urgent matter here. We’re going to need your cooperation.” []
I felt my anger rise at his words. He’d thrown me away so easily and showed no mercy at my lowest point. I owed him nothing. Not my help. Not my cooperation.[]
“This is all really convenient, but last time I checked, I wasn’t your mate anymore, Froste.” I shot back.
“That doesn’t matter–“[]
“And by extension, I’m no longer Luna of Galaxy Pack. I’ve cut all ties with that pack so stop looking for me and just let me be!” I yelled into the phone, unable to hold back my frustration.[]
“Listen,” Froste started cautiously. “I know you hate me and want nothing to do with me. That’s fine. But you just have to come back. You can’t refuse.“[]
“And who says I can’t?” I glared at my phone.]
“There’s a problem with the company’s finances. All the money you earned while you worked here has disappeared.”
My eyes widened as soon enough, my anger was rising as well. “How did that even happen?“]
“That’s what we’re trying to work through. Just…please come here.” He pleaded, a hint of desperation in his voice.]
I let out a breath. “I’ll be there soon.”
on.“]
I ended the call and put my phone away in frustration. I’d told myself I would never go back there again. Now it seemed there was another thing that had pulled me there.[]
“What’s wrong?” Haelor stepped closer to me, a hint of worry in his eyes.[]
I narrated everything that Froste had said to him. The look of worry in his eyes slowly turned to anger. Askhan had a similar look on his face. He looked pissed.]
“I have to go now.” I said, my tone filled with urgency.
“I’m coming with you.” Haelor said, motioning for his adjutant.]
