Chapter 10
The annual corporate exchange renference in Jorleston unfolded as expected, attended exclusively by top–tier company executives,
Yet, every gaze was irresistibly pulled toward a single figure the legendary Arthur. The past three years had honed him into an even more formidable figure.
After breaking away from his family’s company, Forsyth Group, to carve his own path, he had evolved from a promising young talent into a seasoned strategist. It took only a single quarter of stellar financial reports for him to claim his first major victory.
Arthur now stond on the foundation of the groundbreaking industry he had pioneered, rather than the long–established legacy of the Forsyth Group
“Do you know why Arthur broke away from Forsyth Group and went out on his own?–
Gossip like this didn’t come around every day, and Stella Leigh could barely container excitement. This was her first time at an event like this, surrounded by many high–profile figures.
Beside her, her senior colleague, Max Lumley, was talking a mile a minute, barely pausing for breath
“You won’t believe this, but Arthur actually bailed on his own wedding years ago! I don’t know all the details, but he left his longtime fiancée standing there, jumped into his Porsche Panamera, and took off like he couldn’t get away fast enough.
“Marriages among the wealting are never as straightforward as they seem. By walking out, he didn’t just embarass his own parents. He humiliated the family he was supposed to marry into.
“And when his father, Stephen, tried to force him back in line by threatening his career, Arthur just walked away from it all.”
„“Oh my gosh,” Stella exclaimed. –
She pressed her hand to her mouth, struggling to contain a gasp at such a juicy secret from the upper crust.
“So, do you know why he bailed on his wedding? Come on, spill it already. Don’t leave me hanging.” she urged.
“Like i said, I don’t have the full story,” Max answered. “But someone who was there swears Mr. Forsyth got a call and just took off. My guess? Something must’ve gone down with the person he’s really into Unrequited love, playing hard to get–now that’s a real drama.”
Stella’stare drained of color as she noticed Arthur’s tall, imposing figure looming behind Max. She nagged at Max’s sleeve, but he was too caught up in his story to
пост
“What’s the deal? If you mess up my clothes, the supervisor’s going to have our heads for wrecking the company’s image,” Max quipped.
“M–ML. Fenyih, is there something you need? Stella asked.
She lowered her head, her heart sinking with the chilling thought that her future might already be sealed
Arthur had stood quietly behind them, eavesdropping for who knew how long. His face was strikingly handsome but stem, with sharply arched brows and eyes so deep they seemed devoid of any humor..
“Where’s the restroom?” he asked.
Max finally tumed, his legs shaking. He cursed his luck for being a man, forcing a tense smile that barely reached his lips, and twitched awkwardly as if something
was off
“M–Mr. Forsyth, p–please, follow me
The angry outburst never came as expected. With unsteady steps, Maxled Arthur in the restroom, too afraid to budge even after Arthur went inside. He stood paralyzed outside the door, bracing for the fury he was bound to follow.
But when Arthur emerged, he merely glanced at Max before muttering. “You were right.”
Max barely processed the words.
“My lover is dead,” Artinir said
The few words hit Max like a lightning strike, leaving him stunned and disoriented. His mouth lang open, eyes wide and locked on Arthur, who wiped his hands clean without a hint of urgency.
With an alt of nonchalance, Arthur remarked, “You’re quite well–in
– informed. It’s a shame for you to stay here. Why not come work for my company?”
Max couldn’t find his voice, unsure if Arthur was being sarcastic or serious. He knew Autour was now running a healthcare company, a field outside his own area ot expertise. His head sank so low it seemed like he was trying to melt into the floor.
But then, a hard came into view–ender, pale, and refined–holding out abusiness card. Arthur’s name was printed in bold letters across it “Bring that young woman from earlier with you,” Arthur added.
Macnever imagined that gossiping could actually land him a job. His hands shoul uncontrollably as if jolted by a surge of electricity. His gaze locked on Arthur, Who stood on the stage with an effortless composure, speaking liks thoughts without a hint of doubt.
Max ploched himself sharply,
Though trying tu siap out of adıram.
“This can’t be real,” he muttered to himself. “El draining, Mr. Forsyth is about to take me under his wing just to coaline But, seriously, Max, are you okay will staying as a borei manager for the rest of your life? screw it, l’andoing this!!
He shared the news with Stella, whose reaction was just as stummed as his. Even as the banquet wrapped up, neither of them could stop themselves from shaking. “Max, I heard inore rumors about Arthur,” Stella said, her expression 1 into it after his lover died of cancer.
“Want to hear it? Antino’s company is in the healthcare field, right? I heard he got
“Now the company is thriving like never before. When he said you were well–informed, he probably meant he wanted to bring you on as a pharmaceutical
representative.”
Max pointed at her and asked, “What about you? Why would he want you?“
“Maybe it’s because I’m easy on the eyes…”
stella was definitely attractive. In fact, at the upscale, star–rated hotel where they worked, looks were a big part of the hiring criteria. Max took in her delicate features, noting the calm, tranquil air about her, and then it hit him.
“You don’t think he’s trying to take advantage of you, do you?” he asked,
Feeling a sense of nervous anticipation, they arrived at Arthur’s company for the interview.
The healthcare company was called CinovaCare. Stella didn’t need a second to recognize the “in” in the name. It was an obvious tribute to his late lover.
Holding Arthur’s business card, Max and Stella didn’t even have to wait.
The receptionist gave Stella a warm smile as she locked eyes with her and said, “Mr. Forsyth is expecting both of you upstairs.”
The receptionist was strikingly beautiful
Max’s eyes flicked between her and Stella, his brow furrowing. “Don’t you think she
