Luke leaned against the wall for support, the ache in his heart nearly making him collapse. It turned out the worst punishment wasn’t her desire for a divorce and to leave him. It
was that she had erased him from her heart.
He recalled the woman who once gazed at him with pure love–the woman who was so enamored with him that she agreed to a secret marriage, signed a prenuptial agreement, wasn’t intimidated by his parents” coldness, and found happiness just being by his side. How had he managed to lose her?
In the dining room, Henry slammed his hand on the table with a loud bang and said, “Vespera, one shouldn’t be this greedy. Do you think you’re entitled to 10% of the company’s shares?”
Vespera remained calm and unperturbed. “It seems you disagree,” she replied with a heavy sigh. “Well, then, you should encourage your son to finalize the divorce with someone as greedy as me. I’m even saving you a few million dollars. Haven’t you always wished for a daughter–in–law from an equally prestigious family!
“This is a golden opportunity. If he gets tired of Tina, you can find someone else for him. Surely, he’ll tancy a new woman.
“Vespera!” Luke called out, entering the room hastily
His intimidating presence caused the two bodyguards to immediately tense up and move in front of Vespers to shield her. Vespera gave a slight smile and assured them it was okay, asking them to step back for now.
The bodyguards, still wary of Lake, retreated slightly but remained nearby. After all, their job was to ensure Vespera’s safety, as they had been hired to do so.
“You’re late. I’ve already had a conversation with your father, Vespera remarked with a smile. Luke clenched his jaw and retorted, “This is between us. Talking to anyone else is pointless! Divorce? You’re dreaming. If you’ve got the nerve, end it by killing me or yourself. Otherwise, forget about it!”
He was trying a new tactic again. After his shamelessness, sweet–talking, and pleading didn’t work, was he now resorting to intimidation? Vespera pressed her lips together. Challenging him while he was in such a volatile state wasn’t wise. Arguing would be futile too
After a pause, she said, “You keep insisting you don’t want a divorce and claim to still love me. But at the airport, you left me and book Tina away. Can you honestly deny being with her these last few days?”
Luke was at a loss for words. He had indeed taken Tina away at the airport and left Vespera behind. Recently, Tina had been threatening suicide daily, leaving him no choice but to stay with her.
“Let’s divorce. There’s no sense in continuing this marriage,” Vespera urged sincerely.
Like fixed a cold stare on her and let out a chilling laugh. “You’re so eager to be single again. You must be rushing to become Dominic’s woman.”
Henry was taken aback. Dominic? He recalled the tall man he had seen in the charity gala video. That man’s presence and demeanor were just as impressive as his son’s, and he happened to be Samuel’s eldest son.
No wonder Vespera was so bent on divorcing his son–she actually wanted to get involved with the Reid family
“Vespera, just because you managed to join the Munoz family doesn’t mean you can also join the Reid family. You’re just fantasizing!”
Vexperlooked at the father and son, speechless. She took a deep breath to control her temper. “Dominic and I have a pure and innocent relationship. Be careful with your accusations, or the Reid teily might come after you!”
