Chapter 190
After a flashy, mystical–looking ritual, Miranda let out a thoughtful hum.
“Mr. Reid, as for your romantic fate, I’ll leave you with this. ‘What seems far away may be right before your eyes. Cherish the one in front of you.“”
The one in front of him? Dominic had plenty of people in front of him. It was typical vague
fortune–teller talk.
Vespera smirked to herself until she realized Dominic was looking straight at her. His eyes were dark and intense, deeper than they had any right to be.
A chill ran down her spine.
“Wait, why’s he looking at me like that?” Vespera thought.
“What does ‘in front of me‘ even mean? I don’t get it. Do you?” Dominic leaned in a little closer, his eyebrows were drawn in confusion, those soft, flirtatious eyes practically fanning
at her.
Vespera felt like her heart was about to give out. Their reflections lingered in each other’s pupils. Her breathing quickened, and her face burned like a pot of boiling water.
Next to them, Yasmine felt the sugar overload hit her hard. She thought that if she stuck around them any longer, she would need an insulin injection.
Calvert piped up, “Oh! I know what it means!”
He started scooting closer when suddenly, a Hermes bag came flying out of nowhere and smacked him on the head.
Yasmine glared at him, her eyes sharp as blades. She was practically screaming, “Why the hell are you inserting yourself into this scene? Are you stupid?”
However, Calvert couldn’t read what was on her mind and just thought Yasmine was seriously
weird.
.
Vespera stammered, “It probably just means someone close to you… I don’t get it, either. Sounds a little too deep for me.”
She tried herst to act casual.
Right then, Miranda chimed in helpfully, “If Mr. Reid would like a little boost, something to help you win that person’s heart sooner rather than later, I happen to have an artifact that could do just that.”
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a bracelet. It looked exactly like the one Vespera was already wearing.

Vespera was speechless.
Miranda had to be mass–producing these things Didn’t she just say the last one was the only one left? What was this, a magic vending machine?
Dominic looked delighted. “Oh, I know that artifact. It’s effective. Isn’t it, Ms. Gildon?”
He looked at her again, and Vespera wished she could vanish.
“I hope it works just as well for me,” Dominic added, eyes gleaming with anticipation. “Ms. Gildon, be a dear and go get it for me?”
Vespera was utterly speechless, mentally screaming for him to get it himself. But the very next second, she remembered her damn job title. She was his secretary.
Swallowing her pride, she walked over and handed it to him.
A long, graceful hand–elegant, with sharp bone structure–reached out in front of her. “Put it on for me.”
“Don’t you have hands of your own?” she snapped instinctively.
The air froze around them.
Dominic held out his hand, his face calm, but there was definitely a storm brewing underneath his eyes.
Three seconds later, Vespera realized what she’d just said and scrambled to fix it. She quickly slipped the bracelet onto his wrist. “Looks great. Really suits you. It’s super stylish.”
Dominic withdrew his hand. He studied the balance bead bracelet closely, the cool tone in his voice carrying a hint of doubt. “Ms. Kinsman… is this thing actually effective?”
But Miranda was no rookie. She gave a serene smile. “Love isn’t something you rush. It takes patience. Let it unfold naturally.”
Dominic nodded. “Fair enough. That makes sense.”
Seeing how good the bracelet looked on Dominic–surprisingly trendy, even–Calvert couldn’t resist. “Ms. Kinsman, I want one of those bracelets too!”
“You just have to jump on everything, don’t you? Yasmine thought.
“We’re out of bracelets, but I do have a pair of rings, one for you and one for your girlfriend. They’ll bless your relationship with sweetness and harmony,” Miranda said.
She pulled a box out from beneath the table.
‘Girlfriend?” Calvert looked around in confusion.
Yasmine waved a hand dismissively. “No need, Ms. Kinsman. I already dumped him. He’s too dumb. I’m worried our kids might inherit it.”
Calvert stared at her in shock and thought, “Wall is she talking about me?”
Vespera looked at him with a face that practically said, “Who else would she be talking about?”
20 minutes later, the four of them stepped out of the room..
Rebecca was waiting by the elevator. She grinned “Well, well. You guys really went to see a spiritual expert, huh? You could’ve just come to me. I’ve got way stronger powers.”
Then her sharp eyes landed on the bracelet now on Dominic’s wrist. “Hey, why’d you buy that one too?”
A beat passed, and then her eyes lit up like she’d just connected all the dots. She clapped her hands excitedly. “Oh! You’re trying to get with Vera, aren’t you?”
