Vespera followed Yasmine’s gaze.
She soon realized that the woman was Elena.
“Her husband owes his entire living to the Sowle family. She has no choice but to bark when they say so,” Yasmine whispered in her ear.
Across the terrace, Elena seemed to feel the weight of their stare. When she turned and saw Vespera, her expression stiffened with discomfort.
They had no real feud. In fact, they used to get along pretty well. But Elena had known Luke cheated with Tina. And she had kept quiet. Worse, she’d deliberately invited Vespera to the club that day just so she’d overhear it all.
Barking, huh? Yeah. That was spot on.
Elena straightened her spine and turned her head away.
Vespera let out a cold smile and took a sip of her drink. She and Yasmine found a small table on the terrace and sat down.
A few moments later, the sound of murmured gossip drifted up from the floor below.
“Dominic’s into her now, sure, but what about later?”
“Exactly. Luke was head over heels for her, too. Fought with his whole family just to be with her. Look how that turned out. Cheated on her in the end.”
“Dominic’s interest won’t last long, either.”
“She thinks she’s going to become the next Mrs. Reid?”
“Let her keep dreaming. A divorced woman who stirred up that much scandal? Please. The Reids are old money, they’d never accept someone like her.”
The human solution to jealousy was to drag the other person down into the mud.
Vespera just smiled faintly when she heard it all.
Yasmine, on i other hand, slammed her hand on the table and shot to her feet, ready to storm upstairs.
Vespera quickly chased after her and pulled her back. “Let them talk. They’ve got mouths, you can’t shut them all.”
“Your mindset is really…” Yasmine stared at her, impressed.
The two of them sat back down.
Vespera had just picked up her drink when a volc floated down from above. “I heard she’s got Dominic só whipped that he’s all over her day and night, can’t get enough. Word is, he’s practically worn out!”
Vespera nearly choked on her saliva.
Were these people seriously making up explicit rumors now? Could they be any more. ridiculous?
Fuming, she started to stand, but Yasmine grabbed her arm and whispered, “Let them talk. They’ve got mouths, you can’t shut them.”
Then paused, eyes sparkling with mischief, and added, “But like… is he worn out?”
“How would I know?” Vespera snapped, completely exasperated.
Yasmine burst into laughter, clearly delighted she’d gotten a rise out of her. “Wow, didn’t. think you two were keeping it PG.”
“I’m his secretary,” Vespera said flatly.
So apparently, her becoming Dominic’s secretary wasn’t just suspicious in the office, or among the lunatics who hated her–it was now a global assumption that she was sleeping with
him.
And not just sleeping with him, but winning at it.
She hadn’t even known she was that powerful.
Yasmine shrugged. “Come on, people only think that because he’s been stepping in to help you every time you go up against the Munoz and Sowle families. And earlier, he was glued to your side. It’s not exactly a stretch for people to connect the dots.”
Vespera gave up trying to argue.
Yasmine nudged her. “Hey, what’s with that face? Being in a rumor with him isn‘ right?”

“Oh, I’m honored. I’m thinking of getting a banner printed tomorrow to celebrate,” Vespera said sarcastically.
At this point, sue was starting to think that insanity might just be inevitable.
Meanwhile, inside the innermost private room, Dominic asked, “Has he arrived?”
Alban replied, “Of course. Why else do you think I called you at the last minute?”
Dominic smiled knowingly. “Thank you for this. I owe you one. Whatever you need in the future, just say the word.”
