Vespera opened her eyes a little. “How about you find yourself a boyfriend first? You’ve never been in a relationship before, yet you act like you’re so experienced.”

The next day, Vespera dragged herself out of bed at 8:00 am. She went to bed at 3:00 am and woke up at 8:00 am.
She arrived at the company at 9:00 am. When she was making coffee in the pantry, she felt like she was brewing a potion that could prolong her life.
By the time she returned to her office with a cup of coffee that was more bitter than her life, she noticed that Dominic had already arrived.
Vespera could tell that Dominic had arrived because Gerard’s office door was open. Speaking of which, Dominic was probably even more exhausted than she was. At the very least, she wasn’t on call 24/7 like he was.”
With that thought, her steps felt a bit lighter. She had barely sat down for two minutes when Gerard walked in.
“Vespera, your dark circles seem serious,” he said. “Your face looks puffy as well. Did you have it rough for the past couple of days?”
“Don’t even get me started.” Vespera’s expression was filled with unspoken grievances.
She wanted to vent about what Jordan had done, but then she remembered the whole. drugging incident. If she brought it up, she would get dragged into it as well.
However, if she skipped over that part, it wouldn’t fully explain just how despicable that man was. After thinking it over, she decided against saying anything.
Besides, the Reid family would never let that man off the hook. As for how exactly they would deal with him, it wasn’t her concern.
Gerard sat d n and chatted with Vespera about work. Before leaving, he hesitated for a moment before asking, “Mr. Reid didn’t give you a hard time, did he?”
“No.” With a smile, Vespera continued, “Why do you ask? Does he usually make things difficult for you on your business trips with him?”
“Not really. Most of the time, he’s pretty reasonable.”
“I think the same.”
There were only some moments when Dominic was a bit tough to handle. Gerard and Vespera

exchanged a knowing look and smiled. Neither of them knew exactly what they were empathizing with, but somehow, they just did.
The meeting in the morning ended, and as Vespera stepped out of the meeting room, she received a call from Christine, her former subordinate. Christine had invited her to lunch.
Vespera glanced at Dominic, who was walking in front of her. She remembered that he didn’t have a lunch appointment that day. So, only Gerard had to be around.
“Sure,” she said into the receiver. “Which restaurant?”
“Secret Spring,” Christine replied.
“Alright, I’ll be there around noon.”
“Alright, miss manager,” answered Christine, her voice carrying a faint trace of nervousness.
After ending the call, Christine looked at Luke, who was in front of her. She felt sorry for Vespera as she was forced to make the call.
Vespera put away her phone. Then Dominic suddenly glanced back at her with a deep gaze devoid of emotion.
Upon seeing that, Vespera frowned. She wondered what that look was supposed to mean. Was he upset that she was having lunch with her ex–colleague?
The three entered the elevator, and a few executives stepped in as well. They exchanged polite small talk with Dominic.
Several times, their gazes swept over Vespera. As they kept glancing at her meaningfully, she instantly understood that another new rumor must be circulating.
When they reached their floor and stepped out of the elevator, Dominic suddenly slowed his pace. Behind him, Vespera and Gerard followed suit.
Dominic turned around with displeasure in his gaze. “You aren’t with Eclipse Group anymore. You have a new employer now.”
“It’s just a force of habit,” Vespera replied, feeling a bit helpless.
Was Dominic seriously bothered by this? He was way too controlling!
