The mockery in Dominic’s razo
intensified. “Isn‘ it too late for him to realize it now?”
Eden shook his head helplessly and gave a carefree smile. “That isn’t all. If there really is hell, when they reunite, it won’t be too much if his wife and son tear his flesh apart piece by piece.”
“Why the wait?” Dominic asked. “Why should he have a chance to repent?”
Eden was speechless. He thought that Dominic was as ruthless as ever. They continued discussing matters concerning the Locke and Sowle families. Meanwhile, Vespera sat by the side and only understood half of the conversation-
She wasn’t familiar with Ravendale and the Locke family. The only thing she knew was that the Locke family was the most influential family in Ravendale. She didn’t expect Claire to have
such connections.
And from the sound of it, Claire played a critical role in the Locke family. She was almost like an evil stepmother. However, if their bond as cousins was so strong, why hadn’t she come and seek help earlier?
Vespera hadn’t forgotten how Austin had lowered his pride last week at the restaurant.
From the dining table, Dominic’s voice sounded again. “You might as well wait a bit longer. If Mrs. Sowle really made this trip just to solve Vortex Group’s predicament, bringing her troubles to the table won’t be enough.”
“What does the Sowle family even have to offer her?” Eden sneered.
“That depends on what she wants. If she doesn’t get what she wants, she’ll have made this trip in vain. But if she does…” Dominic rubbed his fingers together. “You had better stay alert then.”
Eden’s expression darkened, and Dominic added, “One thing the Sowle family can’t give her, combined with something from the Munoz family, might just be enough.”
“Aren’t those two families at odds?”

“People in des te situations would consider a survival plan, you know?”
Eden was at a loss for words again as he frowned. Then, his lips curled into a smile out of frustration and speechlessness.
He leaned back against the chair and said, “Being born into the Locke family is a curse. I have the worst luck. I feel like I’m playing a survival game in real life every day! Anyone who wants to be the heir can gladly take the title from me. I don’t want it!”
Dominic understood him. “That’s right. I know that your dream is to become a savage in Shelam Forest.”
Eden didn’t know if he should laugh or be mad. He kicked Dominic’s chair and shouted, Screw you! You actually remember what I said when I was six? Just how deeply do you love me?
When Vespera heard the two bickering, she withdrew her attention from them. The Munoz and Sowle families were going to join forces?
She pursed her lips and took a bite of the apple in her hand. After finishing the fruit platter, she sat for a while before feeling the urge to use the restroom. She got up quietly and slipped into the private room’s restroom.
Dominic had already noticed the moment Vespera got up. As he watched her sneak into the restroom, he found her actions amusing-
“Your eyes are practically glued to her.” Eden couldn’t watch Dominic any longer. Vespera was only going to the restroom, but Dominic kept staring at her.
He withdrew his gaze, and Eden asked, “Do you really like her?”
Dominic hummed in response. Knowing what Eden was about to ask next, he said, “I already. tried, but she doesn’t like me.”
Eden’s expression shifted from shock to disbelief Holding back a laugh, he said, “So, you confessed your love to her before and got rejected? She really has no taste. You’re way better
than Luke.
He added, “Don’t be sad. I’ll support her financially to get her eyes checked. Once she’s cured, she’ll finally see how great and pure–hearted you are.
“I can’t believe it actually happened to you. I have to remember this historic moment. On June 10, Dominic was rejected. Tell me the details. How did she reject you? Was it brutal? You didn’t cry, did you? If you feel like crying now, my shoulder is all yours.”
Eden mocked Dominic mercilessly. After all, this was a once–in–a–lifetime opportunity.
Dominic narrowed his eyes as he glared at Eden coldly. “Do you think I won’t cut off your tongue?”
By the time Vespera came out of the restroom, the two had moved from the dining table to the
couch.
When she arrived earlier, Dominic had dragged her away. Now that she could get a good look at Eden from a closer distance, she finally greeted him properly. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Locke.
“Nice to meet you too, Ms. Gildon.”
