Vespera fell forward, and just as she was about to land on Dominic’s chest, she grabbed the doorframe and used all her strength to stop herself.
“Morning,” she greeted him.
She let out a deep breath as she straightened up. Once steady, she brushed strands of hair from her face and gave him an awkward yet composed smile.
He stared at her for a moment, unsure of what to say.
“Why are you sneaking around my room this carly?” he asked casually.
The way he spoke threw her off. He sounded sa normal, like the wild beast from last night had
been her instead of him.
Today, he wore a vintage brown suit, refined and graceful. No one would believe this was the same man who had lost control in the bathtub.
Vespera rolled her eyes in her mind. Now that he had recovered, he was back to mocking
like nothing had ever happened.
“I came to see if you’re awake. We’re leaving at noon, so I thought I would help with your luggage,” she said, coming up with an excuse.
He paused for a few seconds before saying, “Let’s have breakfast first.”

After everything, the last thing she wanted was to sit and eat with him. She would’ve gladly. skipped breakfast just to avoid facing him.
“You go ahead. I’ll get started with some packing,” she replied politely, stepping aside.
Dominic left his room and walked toward the stairs. A few steps down, he turned to look at, her. “Ms. Gildon, let me remind you–it was your choice to enter my room, so I hope you don’t regret it.”
Without another word, he headed downstairs.
Vespera frozenfused by what he meant. It was unclear if there was someone else in there- perhaps a woman or even a man.
Her thoughts spiraled until she stepped into the bathroom. The lingering scent in the air gave
her the final clue.
Now, she did regret it. She had learned too much,

hoping he’d finish breakfast by the time she came down.
When she finally went downstairs, she found Dominic sitting in the living room.
“Were you packing the entire floor?” he teased as he glanced at her. “Come on, let’s eat.”
Her efforts to avoid him were in vain. She felt like she’d been shot in the head. She never expected him to wait for her.
When he noticed that she wasn’t following him, He turned to look at her. “Don’t just stand.
there.”
Walking behind him, she tapped her cheeks gently to calm herself down, but she felt dead inside.
In her head, Vespera told herself that last night was just one of those life experiences. What she found in the bathroom was just another.
As she sat at the table, she noticed Dominic was bathed in morning light, distant and composed. Her thoughts flickered to the version of him in the black robe, seductive and dangerous.
The worst version was the one she imagined–him getting his release in the tub. She screamed internally.
She shut her eyes, trying to erase that thought. She hadn’t meant to think of it, but she was a grown woman. She understood these things.
The image kept creeping into her mind. She begged the universe for forgiveness, as she had become a pervert.
“I told you you’d regret it,” Dominic said, watching her closely.
Vespera clenched her fists and silently cursed him for being so calm.
However, he seemed genuinely concerned. “You’re worrying me. I must’ve scared you,”
“There’s no need to worry.” She raised a hand, cutting him off from continuing that subject. She added coolly, “I’m pretty open–minded.”
On that note, she acted all unbothered and started eating breakfast.
As she cut int er food and took a bite of nothing, she forced her mind to wander to topics like world peace and poverty–anything that could distract her..
