Chapter 158
Anger overtook Vespera, and she felt the urge to Be Jordan, Dahlia, and the woman who drugged Dominic together and beat them up.
She walked toward Dominic with a heavy expression and sat beside him.
“Mr. Reid, they spiked your water. Do you feel anything out of the ordinary?” she asked, carefully observing his condition.
His skin appeared normal, and there was no abnormal sweating. She reached out to check his temperature but quickly held back.
“I think it hasn’t kicked in yet. So let’s hurry to the hospital. I’ll let the driver know,” she
urged.
She reached for her phone but realized she hadn’t brought it and was still in her pajamas, with
no bra.
Her thoughts ran wild for a moment.
“Mr. Reid, hang in there, okay? I’m going to get my phone from my room,” she informed him.
She turned to the door, deciding that putting on a bra was her top priority. Since he was already drugged, a few minutes of delay wouldn’t kill him.
“Ms. Gildon…”
Dominic pressed his hand on her shoulder. His voice sounded husky, like he had a sore throat.
She realized that it was worse than expected. After a moment’s hesitation, she decided to stay. It was impossible for her to leave him alone.
She returned to his side. “Mr. Reid, how are you feeling? Are the effects of the drug kicking in? Do you feel hot?” she asked with concern.
There was no answer. Slowly, he opened his eyes and looked at her.
His eyes were dark and dangerous like an abyss. They stared at her with an intensity that took her breath away.
He gripped her shoulder tightly and leaned closer. His breath, hot like lava, brushed against her ear.
I’m… thirsty.”
His voice sent a wave of shock through her. She immediately pulled his hand away.
“I’ll get you some water!”
She sprang to her feet, ready to make a run for the door. But before she could move, he
pressed her back into her seat.
“It’s too late.”
His velvety voice slid through her ears as his hands shifted from her shoulder to her waist. Darkness loomed over her as his lips met hers.
She could feel his minty breath when he slipped his tongue into her mouth. The kiss was gentle yet deep, fiery yet controlled.
A wave of emotions swept over her.
When she thought back on it later, she had to admit it felt good. But at that moment, she immediately recovered from the shock and sensation. She bit his lip, pushed him away, and hit him with the pillow beside her.
“Come to your senses! Don’t give in to your urges! You can do this! I know you can!” she yelled, hitting him continuously.
Dominic grabbed the pillow with an expression of helplessness and bemusement. “I’m okay- now,” he said.
“Really? That fast? I don’t believe you,” Vespera replied. She stood on guard, marking her escape route to the door.
She added, “We have to go to the hospital before you turn into something else. You won’t be able to hold it in. Let me call for help.”
The drug had kicked in, and he was already losing control. It was strong enough to turn a gentleman like Dominic into a wild beast.
“It would take at least three hours to reach the Hospital. Would you prefer if I lost control in the car?” he asked, staring at her dangerously.
Vespera went silent, secretly hoping Gerard would come to their rescue. After some wishful thinking, she cursed Jordan again and sighed deeply.
“Then what should we do?” she asked.
“Leave and lock the door. Don’t worry about me, he said, leaning back into his chair.
Vespera left as insti ed. After a while, she took all the ice from the freezer and poured it into the bathtub before filling it with water.
It took her 20 minutes to convince Dominic to get into the ice bath.
“Mr. Reid, is it working?” she asked.
His lips trembled as he replied, “How did you come up with this idea?”
“Don’t ask. Anyone in this situation has done this before. You’ll be all better if you stay in here until morning,” she assured him.
Then, she added, “Don’t worry about the ice! I’ve frozen another batch. We’ve got plenty.”
