The plane landed in Montarion, the capital of Atheland, right at midnight
The border control officer checked Kelly’s documents and asked her a few roetine questions. “Ms. Kelly Kessler, how long are you staying in Atheland?
I’ve accepted a job offer from a company here in Mentation. My work visz call set, and I’ll probably be here for about two years.”
Noticing her fluent Mhelish, the officer didn’t ask any more questions and stamped her passport.
Kelly thanked him, grabbed her bags, and beaded out of the airport. She searched for her hotel’s address on her new phone before catching a cab.
The driver, a young Athelian woman of the sanse descent as Kelly, wasted no time starting a conversation when she noticed her. Hearing her native language abroad made Kelly fed night at home.
On the way, the deliver shared many tips for living in Montarion, and Kelly made a few mental notes. When they arrived at the hotel, they swapped contact information. Then, the driver camed Kell’s bags to the elevator before heading off.
Kelly shit her key card to unlock the door. As soon as she stepped into the spotless, tidy room, she felt the tension fade.
She went downstairs for a quick bite, headed back to her room to freshen up, and then crashed onto the soft bed. Exhausted, she slept like a log until 2:00 pm the next day.
When she finally woke up, still feeling groggy, she took a while to take in her surroundings. It took a solid five minutes for the reality to hit her–that she’d actually left her home country and moved to a new place.
Montarion was in the middle of a brutal summer, and the heat was no joke. Kelly grabbed a summer dress, grabbed a quick lunch, and hopped in a cab to check out the apartment she’d rented near her oflice. The owner showed up right on time and handed her the keys.
Once inside, Kelly walked around, making a mental list of things she’d need to buy. Then, she called in a cleaning crew to give the place a proper scrub. By evening, she was back with her luggage and officially settled in
In the days that followed, she picked up the essentials, and little by little, the empty rooms started to feel more like home. She kept in touch with her soon–to–be housemate, who would be arriving soon, and slowly began adjusting to life in Montarion,
Sence Kelly was a great cook, and with a couple of colleges nearby, she naturally started hanging out with some international students. They were around her age, after all.
She also got to know two young women who Eved next door. They took her shopping, introduced her to local restaurants, and gave her the full tour.
Between her new job and these little outings, Kelly found herself starting to enjoy her new life.
One morning, Kelly woke up to some noise coming from outside Stall half–asleep, she rubbed her eyes and stepped out of her bedroom, only to see a young woman in her early 20s pushing a suitcase.
The woman gave Kelly a shy smile. “Hey, are you Kelly Kessler? I’m Suzette Schart, your housemate.”
That was when it ha Kelly Suzette had mentioned she’d be getting to Montarion today. Kelly quickly greeted her, offered a hand with the suitcase, and showed her around the
apartment
By lunchtime, the two of them, who had only talked online, were already getting along great. Later that afternoon, they headed to the supermarket together
Suzette was a college student, with classes starting soon, su Kelly decided to cook up a big meal to welcome her and invited a few friends she’d met over for a small get–together. After some time together, the group was beginning to form a close bond,
