Chapter 143
The associate director, Gary, felt excited when he noticed the gossip here. He exchanged glances with the cameraman, who quickly understood and hurriedly squeezed into the elevator.
The already cramped space became even tighter, but Gary didn’t mind. He tried to squeeze in, eager to see the unfolding drama up close.
“What are you doing?” Darren suddenly said with a faint smile, “Do you think there’s a good spot for you in here?”
Gary froze, glancing around the elevator before retracting his foot. He forced a polite smile and said respectfully, “I think I should stand outside.“/
Darren let out a scornful laugh.
Gary smiled nervously as he pressed the close button.
The audience who witnessed the whole process couldn’t stop laughing.
[Gary is hilarious! He shouldn’t be in the elevator. He belongs outside!]
[Seriously, Mr. Luther is quite bossy. Is this what a CEO is like?]
[Gary just wanted a closer look at the gossip. What’s wrong with that? Mr. Luther is too aggressive!]
Finally, Mr. Luther and Vivian are together! They really look good together!]
[What are you talking about? It’s clear that Natalie is better for Mr. Luther. They’re both stunning. I’m literally crying.] The cameraman, focused on his job, quickly filmed the four guests as they settled into the elevator.
Seeing this, Vivian playfully covered her face. “Ah! Keep the camera away from me! Otherwise, it will make my face look chubby!”
“Don’t worry. You’re pretty and you look good no matter the angle!” The cameraman grinned, clearly
a
fan of Vivian.
Vivian winked at the camera and said, “No, it’s still too close.”
As she stepped back, trying to find a better distance, she suddenly stumbled and fell backward. “Ah!” Vivian gasped, “Darren!”
Just as it seemed she would crash into Darren, Harriet exaggeratedly stepped forward.
He grabbed her arm with one hand and wrapped the other around her waist, pulling her back to safety. “Are you okay?” he smiled, his hand lingering a little too much on her waist. “You should be more careful.” Vivian felt sick, thinking, ‘I don’t need you to help me, okay? How dare you take advantage of the situation?” She felt extremely disgusted, so she forced a smile as she quickly stepped away from him. “I’m fine.” “Are you going to thank me?” Harriet tossed his hair back, smirking at her.
Vivian felt more disgusted. “Thank you, Mr. Jacobs.”
Hearing that, Harriet placed a hand over his heart, smiling as he nodded. “Serving a beauty is my honor!”
Vivian didn’t want to talk to him. She glanced at Darren, who was absorbed in his phone, completely ignoring her.

Frustration simmered within Vivian, and she decided to stop seeking his attention.
The cameraman checked in on her, having a random chat with her. She just didn’t want any further conversation with
Harriet
Despite Vivian’s indifference, Harriet couldn’t take his eyes off her. She was stunning, with fair skin and beautiful features. The way she talked attracted Harriet so much.
Harriet suddenly got an idea upon catching a glimpse of Darren, Straightening up, he said, “Excuse me, Mr. Luther.”
Darren, bored and fiddling with his phone, looked up with a frown.
I’m thinking of pursuing Ms. Zavala,” Harriet said with a smile.
Vivian, who was in the middle of a conversation, froze when she heard her name from Harriet. She turned to Darren, her heart racing with anticipation and anxiety, eager to hear his response.
They had known each other for five years. Despite, the lies, her feelings for him had always been real. She couldn’t believe he felt nothing for her.
However, Darren replied coolly, “Why are you telling me this?”
“Does that mean you won’t interfere, Mr. Luther?” Harriet asked with a hint of excitement in his tone.
Darren put his phone in his pocket with a blank face. “I have nothing to do with her.”
That’s good.” Harriet said, beaming, “I was worried you two were still in love with each other since you used to be a couple. I didn’t want to step on any toes if you had lingering feelings.”
Darren replied, his voice even more detached, “I won’t.”
With that assurance, Harriet became happier and talkative. “Are you interested in investing in live streaming, Mr. Luther?” He started with a pornographic live–streaming platform but pivoted successfully, now worth billions of dollars. “The industry is booming. We can work together if you want.”
Darren said nothing.
Harriet continued, “I know you’ve invested in TikTok, Mr. Luther, but we have more features than it. Why don’t you work with us?”
Darren remained uninterested, offering only silence in response.
Noticing Darren’s lack of engagement, Harriet turned to Natalie. “What about you, Ms. Xavier? Would you consider streaming on our platform?”
Darren’s attention shifted subtly toward Natalie. She found the idea intriguing, but it wasn’t the streaming itself that caught her interest. It was the potential opportunities she had noticed during her time as an influencer.
The enormous profits of TikTok and many live–streaming platforms made her eager to join. It was an instinct for an investor.
She raised her eyebrows. “Sure. Why not?”
Seeing that he finally got some recognition, Harriet was eager to show all his enthusiasm. “You’re a major influencer on TikTok with millions of followers, Ms. Xavier. I’ve seen the data of your recent streams, and they’re impressive. If you come to our platform, we’ll definitely offer you special treatment. Even the contract will be different from other streamers.”
As he spoke, he tried to block the camera for fear that the business secret would be exposed. “Let’s discuss it privately if you’re interested, Ms. Xavier.”

Natalie replied casually, “Sure.”
Harriet quickly took out his phone with great enthusiasm. “Let’s add each other on WhatsApp.”
“Sounds good.” Natalie took out her phone. “Now?”
“Yes!” Harriet was overjoyed. A streamer with such popularity was like a goldmine for him. He raised his phone, ready to scan her code.
Just then, Darren suddenly lifted his leg and kicked Harriet right in the stomach. The poor guy didn’t even have time to react before he found himself sitting on the floor.
The force of the kick jolted through Harriet, leaving him dazed and struggling to catch his breath. He gritted his teeth and looked up at Darren, bewildered. “What was that for, Mr. Luther?”
He didn’t understand why he kicked him.
