Jennifer had dreamed of traveling since she was very young.
er her pare
After
parents passed away in an accident, that dream was put on hold for 19 years.
Ironically, it was only after leaving that she finally picked it back up.
In the first month after she left, she went to the city she had longed for most to recover her health.
There, she ran into her college senior, Byron.
Unfamiliar with the area and physically weak, Jennifer received a lot of help from Byron during that month.
Jennifer was particularly perceptive about emotions, and when she noticed that Byron’s gaze toward her had surpassed the boundaries of friendship, she chose to leave and move on to the next city.
Her five years of marriage were not entirely fruitless; at least now, she no longer had to worry about money.
As for Devlin’s numerous online apologies, even if she avoided reading them, she couldn’t escape people bringing them up during her travels.
At a meal, two women at the neighboring table mentioned him again.
“President Devlin is now putting everything online, even admitting his mistakes and letting people criticize him.”
“Cheating was definitely wrong, but if you think about it, it’s not entirely incomprehensible.”
“His wife had a miscarriage and termination of pregnancy; it wasn’t intentional on his part. Wanting a child isn’t unreasonable, especially with the pressure from his family. In other ways, he really treated his wife well.”
“The only issue was that the wife found out. Otherwise, she might have continued living happily.”
“I think it’s only a matter of time before she forgives him. After all, it’s hard to find someone who treats her better than President Devlin.”
Jennifer listened to the entire conversation as she finished her last bite of noodles.
When she got up, she happened to make eye contact with the two women.
They looked at her, hesitant to speak.
Chick
Jennifer smiled. “Don’t worry. My heart is hard enough now.”
With that, she paid the bill and left the restaurant
It wasn’t that she expected Devlin to treat her perfectly.
It was just that Devlin had sworn an oath, and she had happened to take it seriously.
If he couldn’t keep his word, then she wouldn’t stay.
She had given up her child, left behind her phone, and sent the divorce certificate.
She had left no room for compromise, yet people still seemed to think she should go back.
“Jennifer.”
Instinctively, Jennifer turned her head.
Just a few steps away, Byron stood holding a camera, tall and poised, a smile in his eyes.
Click. The moment was captured.
“You…”
Seeing Byron walk over, Jennifer was so surprised she couldn’t speak
“I told myself, if I ran into you again, then luck was still on my side.”
“Jennifer, the words I said when I was 22 will always count.”
Byron was two years older than her.
When she was 20, her life was consumed by school, work, and rescuing her reckless younger brother from internet cafes and dance halls.
Byron’s confession had been nothing more than a brief episode in her life. Love was a luxury for her, and Byron didn’t fit into her plans.
Jennifer was silent for a long moment, about to respond, when Byron interrupted.
“How about a bet? Let’s decide on the stakes first. If I win, you have to give me a chance to pursue you.‘
To be honest, Jennifer was a little curious.
“What’s the bet?”
“If we run into each other in the next city.”
Jennifer was confident she wouldn’t lose.
Even Devlin hadn’t been able to find her, let alone Byron.
“Do we have a bet?”

His tone was casual, but there was a faint tremor at the end of his question.
“Alright, see you then.”
She walked around Byron and continued forward.
Byron exhaled deeply, a smile spreading across his face.
…See you.
At that moment, outside the restaurant.
“I looked through the photos I just took. There’s one of the lady’s profile. Should we post it?”
“Why not? We were going to post anyway.”
The two women exchanged glances and pressed “send.”
The photo of Jennifer quickly went viral and was soon in Devlin’s hands.
Devlin’s eyes turned red with joy. After checking the location of the photo, he immediately
rushed to the airport.
“Wife, wait for me.”
