Chapter 16
Devlin’s body jolted, and instinctively, he loosened his grip.
Bright red blood began to drip from his head, staining half of his face.
Roy was so terrified that her legs turned to jelly. She tried to escape, using her hands and feet.
But she was yanked back.
Unable to escape, Roy chose to fight back.
“You’ve already killed Jennifer’s two children, and now you want to kill your third child?”
Devlin was frozen in place.
Ruoyi stopped struggling, lifted her head, and smiled at him.
“What’s wrong, Devlin?”
“She
doesn’t want you anymore, and now you want to cherish her?”
“Too bad, it’s too late.”
The blood from Devlin’s head continued to drip down, making his pale face even more ghastly,
His eyes were lifeless as he stumbled out the door.
Just as he stepped outside, Roy rushed up and locked the door behind him.
A pop–up appeared on her phone.
Photos of her being kicked out by Devlin’s mother, along with news of Jennifer’s disappearance, were trending on social media.
So, Jennifer hadn’t returned.
Roy’s stomach gave a painful twinge, and she immediately called for emergency help.
As long as she could successfully give birth to this child, she still had a chance to rise in status by relying on the child.
At the Mellon family’s house.
Devlin, back home, locked himself in the nursery
It was the only place where he could find traces of Jennifer and hold on to some fragment of hope.
Even though everything in that room constantly reminded him that he had killed his own child and destroyed Jennifer’s love for him.
Blood dripped onto the table.

Devlin frantically wiped at it with his clothes, but the blood kept dripping, no matter how much he tried to clean it–it wouldn’t stop.
And the more it dripped, the more panicked he became, the more urgent he felt.
“Jennifer, I’m begging you.”
“I really can’t take it anymore. I can’t keep going
“Please give me one more chance. Just one….

Devlin’s back collapsed, his body trembling as he choked, unable to say another word.
His mind replayed memories of when he first got together with Jennifer.
“Wife, you’re so easy to please, a box of steak makes you happy?”
At the time, Jennifer had smiled at him, but with a seriousness that was rare.
“I’m easy to please because I still love you.”
“When I don’t love you anymore, not even if you die in front of me, will I spare you a second glance.”
Now her words had come true.
She had decisively left, never wanting him again.
The phone suddenly rang–it was a call from Kavis.
Devlin didn’t answer.
The phone rang repeatedly, but Devlin ignored it.
Finally, the ringing stopped, but it wasn’t long before there was a knock at the door.
“Mr. Devlin, Madam’s brother is here.”
Devlin carefully wiped the table clean, then cautiously pressed his hand to his head as he walked out, afraid the blood would stain everything.
As soon as he reached the living room, Kavis, his eyes bulging with anger, broke free from the housekeeper and stormed toward him, grabbing him by the collar.
“Devlin, where is my sister? What does her disappearance mean? What did you do with her?”
Devlin, however, just smiled.
Kavis’s veins were popping out. “Answer me! If you hurt her, I’ll kill you. Do you understand me?”
“She left.”
Devlin pried Kavis’s hand off and said, “We’re both pathetic. She doesn’t want me, and she doesn’t want you either.”
“You’re talking nonsense! Devlin, do you believe..”
“Don’t you know what you’ve done?”
Kavis’s pupils shrank.
He… of course, he knew.
But Jennifer had been unable to have a child for five years, and the chances of her having one
in the future were even smaller.
As a man, especially someone from the prestigious Mellon family, Devlin could not afford to give up on having children.
So, he had Roy bear a child, then give it to his sister to raise, and Jennifer wouldn’t have to suffer through IVF treatments anymore.
Kavis had always thought this was a solution that would satisfy everyone.
But seeing the panic on Devlin’s face, he felt a twisted satisfaction.
“What you did, your sister already knows.”
