Chapter 43 Not Pregnant
Audrey ignored the pain and seized the opportunity to break free from his grip, stumbling and falling off the sofa.
She hadn’t intended to bite her tongue to end her life; it was a gamble, a desperate attempt to force Theodore to let her go.
She knew all too well that no one could stop Theodore from doing whatever he wanted.
But she refused to give in. That drunken night had been an accident; she had loved him then, so she was willing. But now, the last shred of pride she had left as Ms. Beaumont would not allow her to sink with Theodore after she had made the clear decision to walk away from their relationship.
She knew he didn’t love her.
He was doing this just to torment her. She was not his plaything!
Theodore’s face grew even darker. “So, you’re really saving yourself for another man? You’re willing to threaten me with your own life? Audrey, do you actually think I care about your life?”
Her tongue throbbed with pain. Audrey’s face turned pale, and she remained silent, her eyes filled with caution.
Theodore stared at her without a word, but the fire in his chest only burned hotter. He grabbed Audrey’s wrist, yanked her up, and threw her back onto the sofa, forcing her lips apart. Blood

Audrey pushed him away, clutching her chest, feeling a wave of nausea rise in her stomach, causing her to dry heave.
After a long moment, she finally felt a little better.
Theodore’s eyes narrowed as he watched her thin frame, and a thought seemed to cross his mind. “Are you pregnant?” he asked coldly.
Audrey’s back stiffened, and her fingertips dug into her palms.
Seeing her silence, Theodore became more certain of his suspicion. He grabbed her arm and forced her to face him. “You didn’t take any precautions that night. Are you…?”
“No!” Audrey interrupted him, her voice shaking. “I’m not pregnant!”
Theodore studied her, trying to determine if she was lying. After a moment, he stood up, his voice flat. “We’ll know for sure if you go to the hospital for a checkup.”
Audrey’s heart tightened. She had been trying hard to forget about the child and that day, but every night, she dreamed of the baby asking why she hadn’t protected it.
Going to the hospital would be like reopening a wound that had just started to heal.
“I’m not going to the hospital!” she said, her eyelashes trembling.
“It’s not your choice,” Theodore replied, his voice cold and commanding. “Audrey, you better not let me find out you’ve lied

“I have never lied to you!” she shot back, knowing he wouldn’t believe her but still standing tall. “Theodore, I know whether I’m pregnant or not! Besides, I took the pill that morning when I woke up. I can’t possibly be pregnant with your child!”
The words hung in the air, and the temperature in the room seemed to drop sharply.
Audrey could feel the crushing weight of Theodore’s anger, nearly suffocating her.
Theodore’s veins bulged at his temples. He grabbed her wrist, pulling her close, his grip tight on her jaw, his expression
sinister.
She didn’t want to have his child?
Fine. Perfect!
Theodore’s hand tightened, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “It’s good you understand your place!”
Audrey’s face turned even paler, and she instinctively recoiled, not wanting to hear any more.
But Theodore held her tightly by the waist and continued mercilessly, “Because if you are pregnant, I’ll personally make sure you’re taken to the operating table.”

Audrey felt as if she had been plunged into ice water. The cold seeped through her body, chilling her to the bone.
In her mind, she could see herself lying in a pool of blood, the memory almost overwhelming her sanity.

His words shattered the joy and hope she had felt when she first discovered she was pregnant, mocking her for daring to dream.
“Stop… please, just stop,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
Theodore’s expression remained hard as he looked at her tear–filled eyes. “Anyone can carry my child,” he said, his voice filled with disdain, “except you. You’re not worthy.”
“Bang!”
Audrey’s nerves snapped all at once.
“Audrey!” Theodore brushed his cheek with the tip of hist tongue, his eyes dark with menace.
She had actually dared to strike him.
How could she?
Realizing what she had done, Audrey instinctively took two steps back, but Theodore grabbed her before she could move any further. “What? Think you can just walk away after hitting me, Mrs. Ainsworth?”
“What are you…

Before she could finish, Theodore shoved her onto the sofa.
Suddenly, a cell phone rang.
