The project with Ains Group was one of the most significant orders in the design institute. For projects of that scale, the chief designer was often experienced.
For a new designer like Audrey, who had only worked for two or three years, she could only be an assistant.
“Yes, you know that the position of deputy director of the Third Group would be vacant after I am promoted to director. We hope you can take this position, but you have less experience than other designers. If we promote you, it will be hard to convince others. Therefore, we made an exception and let you be the chief designer. We will promote you after the project is successfully completed, and there will be fewer objections.”
Penelope paused and frowned. “According to what you said about what happened in Ains Group, I’m worried that if Ains Group knew it was you, it might be more difficult to deal with the issue.”
“Ms. Whitmore, I will do my best,” Audrey firmly.

“Audrey, are you feeling unwell?” Chloe sat next to Audrey. She turned around and saw Audrey pressing her stomach. Her face was pale. Chloe asked worriedly, “Do you want me to take you to the hospital?”
“I’m fine.”
Audrey shook her head and whispered, “I’m going out for a while.”
Then, without waiting for Chloe to say anything, Audrey stood up and walked out of the room while everyone was celebrating.
She didn’t tell Chloe the truth.
From the moment she entered Misty Villa, she felt sick. The scenes that happened at the dinner that day kept running through her mind.

Music echoed around, and colorful lights reflected dazzling light on the walls. The air was filled with the smell of alcohol.
Someone pushed open the door and walked in.
“Landen, how many cups have he had?” He glanced at the man. sitting on the sofa. Then, he looked at Theodore, who was sitting in front of the bar. Despite the dazzling light, Theodore sat there and was almost in darkness.
“Eight.” Landen turned and asked, “Has he quarreled with Ava?”
“Quarrel? Landen, we’ve known him for years. Who has ever seen him and Ava quarrel? I haven’t seen that, anyway.” Morgan picked up a glass of whiskey from the table and shook it. “What’s more, I’ve never seen him say a harsh word to her. If I knew that he would treat his lifesaver like this, I would have rushed back to save him five years ago.”
Landen shook his head but didn’t say anything.
As time went by, they could talk about the fire five years before at ease. However, they all knew that the fire not only almost killed Theodore but also almost ruined him.
Therefore, they were not sure whether Theodore loved Ava.

“There might be a quarrel.” Morgan touched his chin, pretending to be mysterious.
Landen couldn’t bear Morgan’s pretentious look and kicked him. He said, “Stop talking nonsense.”
Morgan dodged and said, “Ava is not the only woman around Theodore. Have you forgotten that one at Kingwood Villa.”
“Audrey?” Landen frowned. “Did he come here to get drunk because he had a quarrel with Audrey? Morgan, what’s wrong with you? Is your memory bad?”
Everyone knew that Theodore didn’t care about Audrey.
Ava was his beloved one, while Audrey was a speck of dirt that he didn’t even bother to look at.
Theodore couldn’t get drunk for Audrey.
“Don’t be so offensive.” Morgan curled his lips. “You can ask Violet if it’s because of Audrey. Isn’t she on good terms with Audrey? You’re her brother. If you ask her, she’ll tell you.”
Landen was speechless.

That was true. However, because of the strained relationship between Theodore and Audrey, he never asked Violet anything about Audrey.
“It’s OK if you don’t want to ask her. I have another idea.” Morgan smiled and drank the whiskey in the cup. He sat down and put his hand on Landen’s shoulder. Suddenly, he raised his voice. “Landen, guess who I saw just now?”
Landen looked at Morgan as if Morgan was an idiot and shook his arm off.
“I saw Audrey.” Morgan didn’t care what Landen had done. He folded his hands behind his head and pretended to be casual. Then, he continued, “Someone was asking her to be his girlfriend in the garden. Landen, you’re right. Although Audrey is strange, she is pretty. When I drank with others a few days ago, they told me Audrey had many suitors when she was at school.”
When Landen heard that, he glanced toward the bar. Theodore remained indifferent.
