Audrey’s lower back hit the railing, causing her to wince in pain. But in the next moment, she quickly steadied herself, preventing any accidental fall over the railing.
“Speak!”
Audrey raised her eyes and stared at him, saying with a sneering tone, “What do you want me to say? Just tell me, and I’ll listen.”
The veins on Theodore’s temple throbbed as his hands tightened. on the railings. His gaze turned cold and intense, wanting nothing more than to tear her apart and silence her mouth.
A thought crossed his mind, and he shifted his gaze to her lips, leaning in.
A shadow suddenly loomed over her, and Audrey realized what Theodore was about to do. Her lashes trembled, and she instinctively turned her head.
His cool lips brushed against her earlobe, sending a shiver down her spine.
Audrey’s hand clenched tightly by her side.
Theodore also came to his senses, his gaze turning colder. He pulled back his hand. Without paying attention to the pain in her lower back, Audrey took the opportunity to turn around and

“Throw away the registration form competition.”
u can’t participate in that
“Why?”
Audrey abruptly stopped and looked at him in astonishment. Many thoughts quickly raced through her mind, and one eventually surfaced, causing her breath to quicken.
“It’s because of plagiarism, right?”
“So… you think that if I participate in the competition and news of Mrs. Ainsworth’s past plagiarism is exposed, it would be embarrassing for you, right?”
Theodore saw the hurt in her eyes and frowned, thinking, “She did plagiarize, and participating in the competition will only bring trouble. Why is she pretending to be innocent?”
“I didn’t plagiarize.”
Meeting his gaze, Audrey saw the cold indifference in his eyes, and a bitter smile emerged. “Theodore, why can’t you trust me for once?”
“I can trust you.” Theodore’s brows furrowed coldly and mockingly as he looked at her. He said, “As long as the person sitting in a wheelchair right now is you.”

The next day was Caleb’s birthday, and it was also the visiting day in prison every three months.
The Visiting Room was a five–square–meter room. Aside from surveillance cameras hanging in the corners, there was only an iron table in the center.
Audrey and Caleb sat inside, waiting for five minutes. The iron door in front of them opened, revealing a middle–aged man wearing a dark blue striped long–sleeved shirt and pants.
“Dad!”
The moment Audrey saw Nicholas, her eyes welled up with tears. “Dad, your hair turned more gray now.”
It had only been three months since they last met, but the gray hair at Nicholas‘ temples had become more prominent.
“I’m getting old. So, having white hair is normal, isn’t it?” Nicholas sat down, chuckling nonchalantly. He glanced at Caleb and then at Audrey, using a soft voice to console them. “Alright, you’re already married. Stop crying like that!”
Audrey blinked away her tears, suppressing the sourness in her
eyes.
Visitation time was limited to thirty minutes. Audrey quickly adjusted her emotions, opening the lunchbox she had brought. Inside was a cake, its fragrance wafting through the air.

“From when I was young until now, whenever it was my birthday or my brother’s, you wouldays make us a cake.” As she spoke, Audrey divided the ca. to three portions and handed them to Caleb and Nicholas. “Today is my brother’s birthday, so I used your recipe and made a cake. Have a taste.”
Nicholas looked down at the cake in front of him and smiled.
“Our Audrey has grown up.”
Caleb agreed teasingly, “Yeah, she really has grown up! If I remember correctly, this should be the first time she has cooked for us, right? After growing up all these years, she finally has a bit of conscience.”
Audrey immediately burst into laughter and stuffed a piece of cake into Caleb’s plate, scolding him, “Just eat your cake, and don’t talk so much!”
“Well, Audrey, you gave our dad the top part but gave me the bread inside. It’s my birthday today, you know?” Caleb complained playfully.
“Who told you to make fun of me? So, I won’t give you any good stuff!”
Nicholas watched the playful banter between his two children, laughing as if all the weariness of the past two years had disappeared.
“Ke–ke… ke…”

Suddenly, Nicholas covered his mouth, coughing several times
in a row.
“Dad, what’s wrong?” Audrey nervously looked at Nicholas.
“It’s nothing, just a lingering cough from a recent cold,” Nicholast reassured her, placing his clenched fist back on the table. He then gave her an assuring smile. “Don’t worry. Dad is fine.”
Audrey was still suspicious, trying to see through his expression. But unfortunately, she found no clues even after staring for a long time. She could only suppress her growing unease.
Caleb noticed her worry and comforted her by patting her shoulder. “Don’t frown like that. It’s my birthday today, so put on a smile, okay? Moreover, I have good news to share with both of you.”
As he spoke, he took out a document and handed it to Nicholas. “Dad, this is the application for sentence reduction.”
Audrey was taken aback. “Sentence reduction?”
Caleb explained, “I consulted a lawyer, and since the Beaumont Group settled the compensation to the victims immediately and even provided additional compensation. Besides, our dad has behaved well during his imprisonment. If we apply for sentence reduction now, there is a high chance that he will be released in
a year.”
Audrey’s eyes brightened, her excitement evident. “So, the three of us will be reunited soon?”
