She stared at the juicy meat, her grip tightening around the fork. The dishes here should have been sweet, but it tasted like ash on her tongue.
Theodore frowned, watching her closely. “Has her wrist always been this thin? It looks so fragile, like it could break with a little pressure. And why does she look so pale?” He thought.
After dinner, the family gathered in the living room for some casual chat.
Audrey lingered on purpose, making sure she was the last to finish her meal.
The pain in her stomach got worse, and she pressed her hand against it before standing up.
As Theodore came back from a phone call, he saw her standing by the table, looking so slight it seemed like a breeze could knock her over.
Driven by an instinct he couldn’t quite explain, he walked over to her.
“You said you weren’t feeling well earlier. What’s going on?”
“Nothing…” Audrey didn’t expect him back so soon. She quickly dropped her hand and started to walk away.

That was his doing; she hadn’t touched it.
“Why aren’t you eating?” His tone turned serious, and Theodore grabbed her wrist tightly.
Audrey stumbled a bit from the sudden pull. “No reason. I just don’t feel like it.”
Theodore’s grip tightened around her waist as he coldly said, “Audrey, don’t try to provoke me. You know what happens when you make me angry.”
Panic surged within her, and she tried to free her hand, but then he shoved her against the wall. Her back hit hard, and a shadow loomed over her as Theodore gripped her chin, lifting her face to meet his, and leaned down to kiss her.
No, it was more like a bite–brutal and harsh.
Suddenly, the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth.
She pushed him away, blood trickling from the corner of her lips. “Theodore, are you out of your mind?”
This house was filled with family members and servants!
Theodore gently brushed his thumb over the cut on her lip before gripping her jaw again. “Isn’t this what you wanted? Why

With that, he lifted her wrist above her head, pinning it to the wall. He leaned down and bit her collarbone, while his other hand slipped under her shirt, brushing against her chest and slowly moving down her waist.
“Theodore, don’t…”
Audrey bit her lip, trying hard to hold back any sounds.
In two years of marriage, he had only touched her that one. drunken night.
But after that, Theodore had figured out all her sensitive spots, and soon enough, she found herself unable to resist, her body softening under his touch, waves of sensation washing over her.
“Don’t? You should really look in the mirror and see how eager you look right now!”
Theodore paused with a mocking smile, completely void of the desire he had just moments ago.
His mouth brushed against her car, his words cold and cruel. “Audrey, you’re such a slut!”
The next second, Theodore shrugged her off like discarded trash. and walked away.
Audrey’s heart ached, and a wave of intense shame made her body tremble uncontrollably.

To him, everything she did was just to get his sympathy, to seem desperate and cheap.
Audrey swallowed the bitterness in her heart, said her goodbyes to Dunstan, and then got into the car with Theodore.
Under the night sky, the Maybach drove out of the gates of Ainsworth Manor and headed toward the city.
Compared to the occasional rustling of insects in the forest, the car was eerily quiet, filled with a chilling tension that made breathing feel like an effort.
After their argument, Audrey’s stomach pain had worsened. Once in the car, she leaned against the window, eyes closed, her fingers cold as she pressed firmly on her stomach. Audrey had taken painkillers before getting in the car, but it was too soon for them to kick in.
Suddenly, a phone rang.
When Theodore saw the caller ID, the coldness in his melted instantly, and he answered.

Ava’s voice was trembling, her sobs broken and ragged. “Theo… Theodore, I’m bleeding.”
Theodore’s face went pale. “I’m on my way!”
