Chapter 28 He Was With Ava That Night
Every word seemed to be blood–stained as Audrey forcefully pulled out the roots of that big tree in her heart, inch by inch.
Theodore’s face turned dark as he forcefully dragged Audrey and strode directly into the bathroom.
Bang!
Audrey was roughly thrown into the bathtub. Before she could steady herself, Theodore grabbed the showerhead, turned it on, and wet her with a chilling stream of water.
“Audrey, I’m the one who call shots in this relationship! You lost the qualification to say these things to me two years ago when you forced me into marriage and became Mrs. Ainsworth!”
“I was wrong to force you back then.” Audrey shivered in coldness. “But Theodore, I saved you five years ago…”
Wasn’t saving his life enough to make up for her mistakes?
Theodore sneered. “You’re still trying to deceive me! Five years ago, it was Ava who saved me, not you!
“Audrey, you’re nothing compared to her!” Theodore threw the showerhead into the bathtub. “Since you’re not sober, stay here

As expected, Audrey had a fever again..
When Hazel brought the sobering soup in, she saw Audrey soaking in cold water. Her delicate face had no trace of color, resembling a lifeless rag doll.
After leaving the master bedroom, Theodore did not leave but went to the study. His expression changed when he heard Hazel’s urgent knocking on the door. He quickly hung up the phone after saying, “I don’t want to see Gareth in Kenston anymore,” and rushed towards the master bedroom. He lifted the unconscious Audrey out of the water and onto the bed.
Her body was burning like a furnace, and her delicate eyebrows were tightly furrowed.
Theodore looked at her open palm, where the blood–red color had been diluted by the water, leaving only a shallow bruise. His eyes sank slightly.
Shortly after, the family doctor arrived and measured Audrey’s temperature. It was 39.3°C. So, he immediately gave her an IV drip.
“When will her fever subside?” Theodore watched as the drip flowed into Audrey’s veins through the needle, his expression gloomy and inscrutable.

“I’ve given her antipyretics, so it should subside in about half an hour,” the family doctor answered.
Hazel stood by the bedside, su somewhat worried. “But last time, Mrs. Ainsworth’s fever didn’t subside all night. I don’t know if it’ll be the same this time…”
“Fever? When did she have a fever?” Theodore looked at Hazel.
Hazel hesitated for a moment before explaining softly, “It was on the fifteenth day of this month. Mrs. Ainsworth got drenched in the rain and had a high fever that night. I called you at that time, but no one answered.”
It was the night of the family banquet.
Theodore’s lips tightened. He was at Ava’s place that night. Although she was okay, she kept saying that she felt uneasy. To ensure the safety of their child, Theodore even took his laptop to work outside her bedroom. He turned on airplane mode on his phone to avoid disturbing Ava’s rest.
Later, when he left the following day, he did see several missed calls. But he didn’t think much about it because he returned later.
He just hadn’t expected that Audrey would have a fever all night long.
No wonder she wanted to make soup that morning.
Thinking of this, Theodore felt like there was a cotton ball stuck

in his chest, causing indescribable discomfort and stuffiness.
“She drank a whole bottle of ka today. Will it affect the effectiveness of the antipyre
“A whole bottle?!” The family doctor’s face showed. astonishment. He instinctively glanced at Audrey, but in the next moment, he clearly felt two cold gazes falling on him.

He quickly composed himself and said, “In theory, it shouldn’t have any effect. However, if someone who doesn’t usually drink much alcohol and has a low tolerance of it drinks it all at once, there may be a risk of gastric bleeding. It’s best to observe her for the night. If there’s no discomfort, there shouldn’t be any problems.”
Theodore fell silent for a moment. “Hazel, walk the doctor out.”
Hazel nodded and left the bedroom with the family doctor.
Theodore sat down by the bedside, glanced at the sobering soup on the bedside table, picked it up, scooped a spoonful, and brought it to Audrey’s mouth.
Audrey tightly sealed her lips, making it impossible to feed her the sobering soup. It simply flowed down the corner of her mouth.
Theodore frowned, looking at the sobering soup, then at Audrey’s face. His gaze was heavy as if lost in thought.

The door of the main bedro as half open. Just as Hazel was about to walk in, she saw Theodore take a mouthful of sobering soup and lean down to kiss Audrey.
She was momentarily stunned, then smiled knowingly before quietly backing out of the bedroom and gently closing the door.
