After sending Ava back to the Rosewood family, Maxwell returned and saw Gareth lying in a pool of blood on the restroom floor. Theodore’s face was terrifyingly dark.
“Take off your coat.” Theodore turned around and said to Maxwell, looking at the disheveled woman sitting against the wall.
Following Theodore’s gaze, Maxwell finally noticed Audrey huddled in the corner, her pupils dilated and her whole body numb.
He immediately understood and took off his coat.
Theodore took the coat and approached Audrey, covering it over her. He bent down to pick her up.
Supporting herself, Audrey stood up, evading him and speaking hoarsely, “Don’t touch me. I can go back by myself.”
Theodore missed its target, and his eyes darkened.
Ignoring him, Audrey stubbornly walked out with an unsteady gait. However, she lost her balance after just a few steps, twisting her foot.
Chapter 27 Trampling on Her Self–esteem Theodore quickly stepped forward and grabbed her waist, picking her up.
“Maxwell, take care of him.”
He coldly uttered those words before striding out of the
restroom.

“Theodore, put me down. I can walk myself…”
“Shut up!” Theodore’s expression remained unchanged as he sternly reprimanded her.
Theodore carried Audrey and swiftly entered the Kingwood Villa.
Hazel, who was cleaning the house, hurriedly came out upon hearing the commotion, only to be shocked by the sight of Audrey being held in Theodore’s arms. “Mr. Ainsworth, what happened to Mrs. Ainsworth?”
“Go make some sobering soup and bring it up.”
Ignoring Hazel’s question, Theodore coldly ordered her and then ascended the stairs to the master bedroom.
As soon as Audrey lay down on the bed, she turned away from Theodore. The burning sensation in her stomach and the feeling of dizziness kept disturbing her.

He hesitated for a moment and clenched her wrist, but before he could examine whether it was blood or not, Audrey forcefully pulled her hand back.
Theodore’s face darkened abruptly. “Audrey, why are you throwing a tantrum?
“Don’t forget that this is the condition you wanted to exchange with me! Why are you acting miserable now? Besides, Gareth hasn’t done anything to you yet!”
“He hasn’t done anything to me?”
A chill flashed in Audrey’s eyes. She felt like her heart was sinking into the sea, struggling to breathe. “So, do you think I should do something with Gareth to prove my misery? Is that what you want?”
“I didn’t think that way.”
“You did!” Audrey couldn’t bear it. She stood up, gazing intently at him. “Theodore, let me ask you. Was today’s dinner really about discussing Ains Group’s project in Alexandra?”
Theodore stared coldly at her without answering.
Audrey laughed bitterly. “Gareth was right. I was too naive!
“I should have realized it. We all know what kind of position

Ains Group holds and how powerful you are, Theodore. Who would dare to compete with you for projects you’re interested in? They would willingly of hem to you!” Tears streamed down Audrey’s face as her voice grew hoarser. She staggered off the bed, grabbed Theodore’s collar, and looked up at him.
“Theodore, your purpose was to humiliate me, wasn’t it?
“You want me to understand that I, as Mrs. Ainsworth, mean nothing to you! Even if I have an affair with another man, you don’t care! You want to take revenge on me for forcing you into marriage two years ago and occupying the position of Mrs. Ainsworth. So, you had already planned to trample on me and completely crush my self–esteem, making me regret it when you heard me mention Mrs. Ainsworth today!
“Well, Theodore, you did it!
“I do regret it! I would rather not have known you!” Audrey’s voice grew lower, almost too soft to be heard.
The air in the room suddenly became frighteningly cold.
Theodore squeezed her jaw, and the veins on his temple bulged. His eyes were filled with rage. “Audrey, say it again!”
“I said–I regret falling in love with you! Theodore, from today onwards, I don’t want you anymore!”
Audrey shook off his hand and repeated herself, “Theodore, I don’t want you anymore!”
