Maxwell watched Audrey, and a vivid memory of her handing him a box of cold medicine on a bitter winter day flashed through his mind.

That was Maxwell’s first seeing Audrey since she and Theodore married.
Audrey had specially brought Theodore a homemade lunch at the construction site, but without even a glance, Theodore threw it straight into the trash before her.
Audrey’s eyes turned red. She clearly felt wronged, but she held back her tears, quickly pulling herself together before leaving. At the time, Maxwell thought she had gone home. But, much to his surprise, she returned not long after, holding a box of cold. medicine, and said, “Mr. Norris, I noticed you’ve been coughing. This medicine works well for that. You should give it a try.”
Maxwell’s gaze deepened as he recalled that memory. He quickly ordered the bodyguards to stop. “Leave us for now.”
Though confused, the bodyguards followed orders and exited.
“Maxwell…” Audrey was slightly taken aback, but with time running short, she headed toward the office once the bodyguards left.
Before Audrey could go any further, Maxwell interrupted, “Mrs.

Ainsworth, Mr. Ainsworth isn’t in his office.”
Audrey was stunned.

Maxwell looked at her and explained, “Mr. Ainsworth is in a meeting, which should wrap up in about two hours. According to the schedule, once the meeting ends, he’ll head straight to a dinner engagement.”
Two hours later, the meeting concluded.
Maxwell followed closely behind Theodore as they entered the elevator and descended to the underground parking lot.
“What’s the schedule for tomorrow?” Theodore asked, glancing at his watch, his tone as cold as ever.
Maxwell replied, “Mr. Ainsworth, you have a lunch meeting with Mr. Rotes from the Karl Group, followed by the quarterly financial report meeting for the subsidiaries from 2 to 4 PM. At 4:30 to 6 PM, there’s a planning session for the new project.”
“Move the quarterly meeting up to 12:30 PM,” Theodore ordered.
Recalling what Ava had said to Theodore in the office yesterday, Maxwell asked, “Are you planning to accompany Ms. Rosewood to the groundbreaking ceremony at Carol Tower tomorrow afternoon, Mr. Ainsworth?”
Carol Tower’s lead designer was Ava, and this was her first project since returning to the country.

The success of this project was crucial for Ava to establish herself quickly in the local architectural scene. That was why she had come by yesterday, spe lly to ask Theodore to attend.
With someone as influential as Theodore attending, Carol Tower would undoubtedly gain significant attention. For a building to succeed, it wasn’t just about the design but also about the buzz it generated.
“Yes,” Theodore responded curtly.
At the same time, the elevator stopped at basement level one.
The moment the doors opened, Theodore saw Audrey. His eyes instantly gleamed with coldness.
“Maxwell.” Theodore wasn’t foolish. The second he saw Audrey standing at the elevator entrance, he immediately understood what was happening. His voice carried a biting chill.
Maxwell had already prepared himself mentally and quickly lowered his head to admit his mistake. “Apologies, Mr. Ainsworth. It was my decision to inform Mrs… Ms. Beaumont. I accept whatever punishment you see fit.”
Theodore’s face remained stony. “Go to the finance department and dock yourself three months‘ pay. Don’t let it happen again.”
With that, Theodore strode forward, right past Audrey without even a glance.
