Chapter 2 Family Dinner
1/1
Theodore had just arrived when his grandfather, Dunstan Ainsworth, called him to the study, leaving Audrey alone in the living room.
“Oh look, it’s Audrey! Just in time for dinner, huh? Thinks she’s something special!”
As soon as Audrey walked in, she heard the snide remark. She looked up to see Grace Ainsworth, her arm linked with a woman in a tight dress, clearly showing her disdain.
“Emma,” Audrey said, moving closer to the woman with Grace, who was Theodore’s mother, Emma Ainsworth.
“Where’s Theodore?” Emma asked, her eyes barely glancing at Audrey.
“He just got here but was called away by Mr. Remington,” Audrey answered.
Lucas Remington was Dunstan’s right–hand man.
Emma’s face softened a bit at the news, but she still scolded, “You knew we had a family dinner today, but you still showed up late. Didn’t your parents teach you
beller? No wonder Theodore doesn’t have a high opinion of you!”
Grace added, “Exactly! Only someone as amazing as Ava could catch Theodore’s eye. By the way, Aunt, did you hear Ava’s back in town? Theodore even went to pick her up from the airport!

Chapter 3 Humiliate
Audrey stood up and walked slowly to the seat beside Theodore, her heart pounding.
Dunstan smiled, saying, “That’s more like it. Couples need to stick together to go far. I’m getting old, and the future of the Ainsworth family is on your shoulders. Seeing you two getting along eases my mind.”
His words seemed casual, but everyone knew he was backing Audrey up.
Theodore’s expression darkened as he replied, “Understood, Grandpa.”
Audrey kept her gaze down, silent, but a chill wrapped around her, making her feel like she was sinking into an ice cave. Even her breaths felt like cold winds piercing her lungs.
Dunstan nodded in satisfaction. “Alright, let’s eat! Audrey, you’ve lost some weight. Make sure you cal enough. If you can’t reach something, let Theodore help you.”
“Okay.”
Audrey nodded, her voice barely a whisper.
Suddenly, a fork clattered onto her plate, stabbing a piece of roasted pork.
