Chapter 39
Forcing herself on him!
Indeed. To outsiders, that was exactly what Yasmin seemed to be doing.
If it had been a month ago, she would have probably been hurt by Sasha’s words. But now, she was completely unfazed. Yasmin smiled. “Sasha, even if Caleb doesn’t like me, as long as we aren’t divorced, I’m still his wife. Even if I were to slap Wendy, no one would dare say a word against me.”
Wendy’s mother, Bianca Williams, and Sasha were good friends. Therefore, Sasha was using this as an opportunity to settle all their past grudges
Yasmin casually fiddled with her fingers. “To put it more bluntly, even if I were to slap you now, people would only ask what you did to make me so angry.”
“You“Sasha fumed, her hands trembling as she pointed at Yasmin.
Then, as if something suddenly came to mind, shechuckled. “Yasmin, you haven’t met Corine, have you? You only have Mrs. Grant Senior on your side, but Corine doesn’t like you at all. Let’s see how long you can keep that smug attitude of yours!”
The person Sasha was referring to was Caleb’s mother, Corine Jenkins.
“Mrs. Grant, Mr. Grant Senior asking for you!
Yasmin had just returned to the living room when a maid walked in and informed her. She immediately followed the maid into the study.
Inside, Benjamin sat at the main seat with a stern expression on his face. His eyes were clouded with age, yet his gaze remained sharp. There was no doubt he had been a formidable figure in his youth.
Caleb sat to his left, calmly sipping on some tea. His demeanor was no less than Benjamin’s.
“Mr. Grant Senior, how have you been?” Yasmin greeted as she approached.
“I’ve been great,” Benjamin cut straight to the chase. “Did you and Caleb get into an argument?“
Yasmin instinctively glanced at Caleb. She had originally planned to keep things under wraps until after Gracie’s birthday. She never thought Benjamin and Gracie would confront her as soon as she returned.
“Don’t look at him,” Benjamin said. “I want to hear the truth from you.”
Yasmin looked back at Benjamin “Mr. Grant Senior, how did you know?
Benjamin didn’t respond to her question directly. “Marriage is not child’s play. It wasn’t easy for you two to be together, so I hope you take things seriously
Upon hearing this, Yasmin’s expression shifted. Benjamin had made his stance clear. He did not want to see her and Caleb divorce.
After all, divorce was a disgrace. Benjamin was a man of pride and would never allow that sort of thing to happen. That said, he also deeply loved Gracie. If the old couple could convince her, perhaps there might still be room for negotiation.
After speaking, Benjamin waved his hand and addressed Caleb, “Go on. Your mother is waiting for you at the loft.”
At the mention of Corine, Caleb instinctively frowned. He stood up and gave Benjamin a brief nod. “I’ll deal with my mother. Yasmin can stay here and keep Grandma company” Benjamin furrowed his brows in disapproval. “Caleb, I know you want to protect Yasmin, but this is not the way to do it What daughter–in–law doesn’t meet her mother–in–Law when she’s back!”
Upon hearing this, Yasmin’s heart skipped a brat. She looked toward Caleb. He was protecting her.
Corine had been living alone for years. Whenever she returned to the family estate, she would stay in a loft a few blocks away. While secluded, the place exuded a unique charm
