Chapter 22
Caleb returned to Grant Group from the hospital and headed straight to the conference room where the legal team was gathered, carrying a large bag of burn medication
The sight startled Edward and the others, who immediately stood up in unison
Although Caleb was always composed and expressionless, he usually at least carried a polite, businesslike smile. But today, even that pretense was gone. All that remained was an air of cold, impenetrable indifference.
“M–Mr. Grant, what can we do for you?” Edward asked nervously.
Caleb’s gaze swept across the room, scanning the people present. But the one he was looking for was nowhere to be seen.
Sensing Caleb’s intentions, Warren quickly turned to Edward and asked, “Where’s Ms. Whitmore?
Edward broke into a cold sweat instantly. No way. Yasmin had just left, and now, Caleb was already here looking for her!
Forcing a smile, he carefully explained, “Are you referring to Yasmin? She’s a new hire. Our firm values our collaboration with Grant Group very much, and we also take the Mayford Acquisition case very seriously. We’ve decided to assign a more experienced Layer to the project instead,”
Caleb’s eyes sharpened like blades. “So, you kicked her off the project just because she got injured?”
Edward was utterly confused. What injury was Caleb referring to? He hadn’t even paid attention to Yasmin, so he didn’t know where she was hurt.
Sensing the danger, be quickly corrected himself, “No, no! Yasmin voluntarily requested to withdraw. She actually brought it up to me last night”
She pulled out before she got injured?
So, just to avoid him, she was willing to give up the internship opportunity she had been looking forward to?
Caleb’s expression darkened. Without another word, he turned and left, leaving behind a group of bewildered and anxious legal team members along with Warren.
“Mr. Hoffman, what should we do? Echward asked hesitantly.
“You’d better hurry up and get that pretty intern, Yasmin, back on the project! Warren sighed as he quickly followed after Cale
This job was seriously shaving years of his life.
The atmosphere in the CEO’s office of Grant Group was incredibly tense.
The marketing director, Ryan Davidson, delivered a proposal to the office. It was a document that had already been reviewed and approved previously without issue.
Yet today, it was flat–out rejected.
All he got in response from Caleb was, “Why are you bringing garbage like this to me?
In the span of just two hours before the end of the workday, every department–from marketing to finance to sales–had been chewed out by Caleb without exception.
A group of executives gathered around Harris, trying to find out who had pissed off Caleb.
Harris simply shrugged and implied that he couldn’t comment much on this.
Who could possibly have provoked Mr. Grant?
Ms. Whitmore, of course.
“Find out where Yasmin went.” Caleb irritably tossed aside the documents in his hand and canceled his evening plans.
Was she running around with an injured hand? Really?
Thankfully, Harris had already prepared for this, “Ms. Rhodes came to pick up Mrs. Grant this afternoon. She took Mrs. Grant to her place.”
He continued in his head, “And Ms. Rhodes also spent hall an hour cursing you out in front of Grant Tower.”

Caleb muttered a curse under his breath.
Damn it. When was George coming back to take care of his woman?
