Contract Marriage 4

Chapter 4
“That’s your cousin?” Aaron takes one skepetical look at Candace and frowns. I hope he is just as desperate as I am as I feel a lick of fear down my spine and hope he doesn’t recognise her ordig into my history. We’d agreed to meet up today and that I’d be bringing my cousin along so he could gauge the situation.
“Yeah. My foster sister dropped her off with me and I’ve been taking care of her since then. Is she a deal breaker?” Aaron looks at her with a narrowed gaze and his eyes light up with a thought.
“No, she’s perfect,” I don’t try to let my surprise show but I am curious as to what he means. For the first time, a smile tugs at his lips and I see a very handsome man and I’m reminded of my time at the club when I felt his hands on my waist, the firm. grip and his breath across my ears.. I shake the thought away.
No, it was years ago, I was young and stupid. Plus, he doesn’t remember
“Albert would love this.” My train of thought disappears and I snap my head to him
“What do you mean? Who’s Albert?” He waves me of and disappears into a room. I hate the fact that he’s always dismissing me, how does he expect this to work?
Candace tugs on my arm and I see she’s no longer concentrated on her coloring book.
“Yes baby?” She holds out her hand and I see it’s for me to carry her, I chuckle lightly.
Aaron walks back out and I accost him, “what do you mean?” I realise I have no any idea what I’m even walking into, because I’m desperate and in need of cash.
“You never told me why you want to do this, why you’re offering such a deal.”
“Yes, because I didn’t tell you.” He frowns at me like I’m s****id and I almost s***er punch him.
“Let’s go,” he gestures to his open door, but I remain rooted in my spot.
“I’m not going anywhere with you until you explain some things to me.” He c***ks an eyebrow at me and smirks
“You signed a contract with me.” It is my turn to frown at him, “Yes, to be your wife, not a s**.”
“No, but in the contract, it says you follow everywhere I demand, regardless of what you think.” I somehow remember that clause and my lips flatten, he smirks knowing he has me.
“My L
proposition however I don’t go anywhere without Candace and if I have to go, I need to know before hand so I know how to comport myself. You’re paying me to be your wife, if I want to play the part perfectly, I need to know what I’m getting into.” I remember telling him those words and he signed off on them as an addendum to the already written.

contract.
“What’s a man like you looking for a contract wife for anyway?” I realise I’m asking this question a tad bit late but it wouldn’t hurt to know.
“Albert, my grandpa, his life long dream..” he rolls his eyes as he walks back into the room and leans against his couch
to have his only grandchild married, and if possible with a kid, a daughter preferably.” He looks at Candace who looks at him with genuine interest and stretches her arms towards him.
There’s a look of sudden panic on his face and he scoots away, this makes me ask him a question I dread the answer to
“Do you even want a child?” He’s very quick to respond “No” My heart breaks and I clutch Candace tighter in my arms. She doesn’t need such a man, just his money I guess, for now.
“But Albert want’s me to

“So, this is all business to you, a game plan.” He scoffs at me and pulls off invisible lint from his impeccable suit, looking down at me with disdain.
“It’s not to you? Don’t all of a sudden be a hypocrite. You’re doing this for the money, I’m doing this for the money. We’re not so different, you and I. His words strike a deep chord within me and I’m beyond p***ed, not just because he has an air of arrogance about him, but because he’s right,
“Which is why I think this will work perfectly. He stands up and nudges us towards the door.
“We need to meet Albert”
It all makes sense to me when we arrive at the hospital. Albert is dying and Aaron wants to fulfill his dying wish and will.
It seems callous of him to deceive his grandfather like that but I clamp my mouth shut when I realise I’m doing the same.
“Is this her?” Aaron nods and smiles at me lovingly. I’m momentarily caught off guard by the caring look in his eyes and a stern look corrects me in an instant. He is such a liar.
and so are you.’ my mind bites at me.
“Hi” I smile at the man who’s h***ed to several machines and struggling to breathe.
“She’s beautiful Ron.”A blush creeps up to my cheeks and Aaron only agrees, cranking up the redness to scoville level.
Candace cries in my arms and Albert looks around confused, sourcing for the origin. I pet her slowly and she quiets, she’s usually like that when she’s hungry.
“Who is that?” Albert turns to his grandson and he scratches the back of his head, trying to look as innocent as possible.
“I know you are traditional and like to do things that way. Marriage before kids, that’s why I kept it from you. She’s my daughter. The tone of conviction in his voice actually makes me believe for a second that he really thinks Candace is his.
“Bring her closer, let me take a look at her. When I asked him what he’d do if his grandfather didn’t believe him, he said it wouldn’t matter. I can see why now, this man barely has 3 months to live and he would rather enjoy his last moments with whom his grandson considers family.
Candace just giggles when the old man’s beard grazes her face and she grabs onto it like her toy, Sario – the knock off Mario I could afford at the gift shop.
“Oh, she looks so much like you.” I freeze, Aaron seems unfazed though and whispers into my ears.
“Don’t mind Albert, he’s slightly delusional.” His words make my shoulders slouch, but only slightly.
“He’s convinced she’s mine, I don’t need to forge DNA results, I couldn’t have chosen perfectly” He smiles at me with genuine praise but all I see is an unhinged man, about to be my husband and the father of my baby.
-When is the wedding my boy?”
“We already held something small. We don’t want it a big deal, you know.”
“Nonsense!” Albert waves him off “No Scott will have a small wedding, not while I’m alive and breathing.” I look to Aaron in fear “this is not what we planned my eyes seem to say to him to his lips are clamped shut, showing his displeasure.
When I made the decision to run away when I found out I was pregnant, it was a split minute decision. Never did I think the state I’d run to, I’d meet the father of my child and marry him.

With a growing fear deep within me, I realise things will not be going as we planned and there’s nothing Aaron nor I can do
How am I to survive 90 days with him?
