Adrian Learns the Truth
Adrian sat in silence within his cage, observing the pack with keen eyes. Every interaction, every exchange, gave him a deeper understanding of the wolves’ lives. He listened intently, piecing together fragments of their conversations until one name broke through the noise: Draven.
“Alpha Draven doesn’t trust outsiders,” one wolf muttered, his tone cautious.
“He’s the reason we have order,” another replied. “Without him and Luna Isla, we’d be no better than rogues.”
The names sent a jolt through Adrian’s mind. He leaned forward, gripping the bars of his cage. “Who are Draven and Isla?” he asked, his voice calm but firm.
The nearest wolf turned with a scowl. “None of your business, vampire.”
Adrian held up his hands, his exhaustion genuine. “If you think I’m here to hurt anyone, you’re wrong. I’ve been looking for someone who can help two werewolves—Lyra and Eryon. If these Alphas are who I think they are, they might be the key to saving them.”
The wolf hesitated, his expression shifting from hostility to mild curiosity. “How do you know their names?”
Adrian took a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. “Because they’re in danger. Seraphine and Eira are using them for something far bigger than any of us.”
At the mention of Eira’s name, the pack leader appeared, his face a mask of fury. “What did you just say?”
Adrian stood, his hands raised in surrender. “I said Eira is involved. She’s manipulating Lyra and Eryon, and they don’t even realize it.”
The leader’s expression darkened. “That name hasn’t been spoken in our pack for decades. If you’re lying, vampire, I’ll rip your throat out myself.”
“I’m not lying,” Adrian said firmly. “I know what Seraphine and Eira are planning, and I know how dangerous they are. Let me speak to Draven and Isla. They’re the only ones who can stop this before it’s too late.”
The leader’s gaze burned into Adrian, but there was a flicker of recognition—or perhaps fear—in his eyes.
“You’d better pray they believe you,” the leader growled. “For your sake.”
As the pack began preparations to bring Adrian to their Alphas, his mind raced. He had gained their tentative trust, but he knew the hardest part was yet to come. Would Isla and Draven see him as an ally—or an enemy?
