Chapter 16
Quinn
“That will be all for now, I look forward to what you both have in store for me. Excellence is the goal for this conference, please. Excellence or nothing” Mr. Roberts said before exiting my office
Fleur followed suit too and Anastasia and I were left together.
Excellence huh I scoffed at Mr. Roberts’s words.
He knew I did an excellent job, I’ve organized programs and events that are more excellent than his upcoming conference and he was aware of it.
Excellence is my trade mark but I wasn’t so sure of my partner.
“So, you’ll be in charge of transportation for the period of the conference? Ana began with a sigh.
“Yes, my team and I would handle the logistics and every other thing that isn’t refreshments throughout the three days the conference would last, I said emphatically and she let out a slight smirk at my words.
Did I sell myself out?
I wanted her to know and remember that I was still Quinn Wintery and even though we were working together, I deserved my due respect from her but now, I don’t know if I overdid it.
Very
ery well then, since you’re in charge of logistics, you could help transport the dish wares and dishes to the location when we are ready.” She said with a firm voice and it was plain that she wasn’t asking or begging for my help.
She was
was telling me what she wanted me to do and she said it with such boldness.
I had never seen Anastasia in the light and I didn’t know whether to get angry or not.
Her boldness intrigued me and now I wanted to know her the more. I should have been angry at the way she spoke to me but I wasn’t, instead I was amazed and intrigued.
A lot had changed about her, from her beautiful curves to her aura and boldness.
“I guess that’s settled since you’ve been silent. She concluded, drawing my attention from my thoughts.
I couldn’t let her think that I was losing myself because of her p
presence so I nodded my head slightly.
e to the venue beforehand.
“Since that’s settled, I’d like to have your team at my place on the day before the conference so I can move everything to She said again, maintaining the firmness of her voice.
She didn’t seem intimidated by me, hell, the didn’t even art like she knew me from Adam.
“So it’s just business huh?” I cut in, deviating from the business chat
“You’re going to act like you don’t know me or we didn’t get married for three good years?” I asked again, looking at her expressionless face,
I said three ‘good‘ years but I had to admit, the years weren’t all i
that good.
“I am simply doing the job I got paid for. I wasn’t paid to come chit chat about the past and fun sute you weren’t as well” She replied with a slight sndle, lagging me as an unprofessional businessman with a smiley face.
Her words were true but I wanted her attention. I wanted to speak with her and ask a lot of questions. Including who the father of the kid is. If she
l got married after or divorce and who Terry was to her.
“50, you or a chef now? Lasked again, trying to case
case the tension that filled the room.
“I didn’t know you cool.” I added, looking intently at her face for any reaction or hint I could read.

I guess the also learned how to mask her feelings along with other things.
The Ana I got married to was always open as a book and always worried ton.
I could tell from her weary expression but this time around, shi

words and it sting to hear her say those words.
“I see that you do not want to discuss the conference with me so I think I’d be on my way now, Mr. Winfrey.” She said, standing to her feet
She called me by my last name like I was one of her business partners, but that was what I was in the real sense.
“We didn’t get to discuss the setting of the conference and I will not have the time for such a meeting again, send the proposed setting and arrangements to my email, and my assistant will go through it” She finished and made to walk out of the office but I stood up abruptly and held her
back
“Hold on a minute, let me drop you off. I’m sure you didn’t come with a car.”
She scoffed and walked out of the office, totally ignoring my words but I wasn’t going to give up. I needed more time with her.
I quickly grabbed my car keys from the table and my phone before chasing after her like a child running after a kite
My staff stared at me with confusion but I overlooked them and ran on.
“Hold on
let me get my car,” I spoke breathlessly when I closed the distance between the both of us.
“I don’t need a lift from you, Mr. Winfrey She replied and turned away but I persisted.
“But you didn’t bring a car with you, I can’t let you go like this, just wait a minute-” I said but stopped when her phone rang out
“Yes, hello Terry. I’m done, I’m at the gate now. Can you come pick me up!” She said with a soft voice, unlike the one she’d been using to address me all the while in my office and 1 felt a surge of anger through my v
veins.
Why would she call that good–for–nothing jerk to come pick her up after I told her that I would!
In less than a minute, Terry’s car drove into the compound and stopped right before us.
He stepped out and opened the door for her and she smiled sheepishly and patted his shoulder before slipping into t Terry then turned to me and gave me an annoying smirk that almost made me lose my shit and hit him but I held myself back
