Katrina’s POV 

The class dragged on, but my focus wasn’t on the lesson–it was on him. 

I wasn’t the only one who found it hard to take my eyes off himy, more than half of the female population stared at the perfect specimen standing before us. 

Silas stood at the front, explaining something about economics but all I could think about was how out of place he looked here. 

He wasn’t supposed to be a professor, that role didn’t suit him.

Silas had a shirt and trousers on, with about two shirt buttons undone. 

“He just stared at me,” a girl behind me whispered to her friend, making me turn to them both subconsciously.

Silas wasn’t just a substitute professor. He was a man who commanded rooms with a glance, and right now, that attention was aimed straight at me. 

Every time our eyes met, I felt like I couldn’t breathe, like he was peeling away all the layers I tried to keep hidden 

Each time he asked a question, he would throw it directly at me, and I would be forced to answer. 

Causing people to stare at me occasionally. 

I didn’t want to be noticed; I didn’t want people staring at me. 

But that seemed to be practically impossible at this point. 

I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, trying to avoid his gaze, but my nerves only got worse when I felt a hand brush against my thigh. 

My head snapped to the side, and the guy sitting next to me–Ryon–was leaning closer than before. 

What does he want?

When the class finally ended. I let out a breath I hadn’t realized d been holding.

Students began gathering their things and filing out of the room and I glanced toward Aiden, who was getting up to leave. 

This was my chance. I could go talk to him now, maybe even get him outside like I was supposed to. 

Maybe that way, Silas would leave this school and not come back 

But then, just before I walked up to Aiden, Silas’s voice cut through the noise. 

“Katrina. Stay behind. I need a word.” 

My stomach dropped.

It was going to be more than a word and I needed to avoid that conversation.
