Her words hung in the air, suffocating me. I was barely able to make meaning of her words. Her eyes glistened with pure joy as she waited for me to speak.

My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to understand what she had just said.

Silas had turned me into a maid, clearly out of anger.

Was this some sort of punishment? Another way to humiliate me after I had stepped away from his touch?

I blinked, stunned. I hadn’t expected this. I never did. I wasn’t aware of what Silas was shopping to prove, but one thing was clear. I wasn’t going to let him break me.

Silently. I turned around and shut the door. The clothes a white shirt and black skirt stared at me mockingly. It felt foreign as I slipped it on, the harshness of the material biting into my skin.

I tied my long hair back, my movements slow as I tried to figure out what would be my next move.

But for now, I had no choice but to play along with Silas.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” I whispered to myself, taking in my appearance. I almost didn’t recognize the person staring

My eyes were a dull green; they seemed to have lost their shine in the weeks I had spent in this place. I had eye bags under each eye to show just how tired I was. They were just there, Framed by a pale skin that almost made me look sickly.

Sighing. I turned around and left, pulling the door open. The woman gave me a once–over and nodded approvingly.

Having him look at me that way made me shudder and I took a step back.

I instantly took another step back, looking at Silas with a bewildered look.
