This was not the first time he held her. The last time he did, she was in so much pain that she had fainted. This time, however, she could feel everything so clearly. She could see his dastardly handsome face. No woman could resist his looks. Through his shirt, she could feel his bulging muscles taut against his skin. He was sexy, lean, and attractive. A fresh scent came off his body, smelling like the fusion between expensive body shampoo and the scent of man. She got dizzy from the overwhelming sensation. Her face got red, and her heart was thumping furiously.
He took her into the house and plopped her on the couch, and it took her a while before she snapped out of it. “But I promised Chris, and he’s on his way already.”
“Then, tell him he doesn’t have to come anymore,” said Conrad imperiously, thinking that
his word was law.
Angela finally returned to her senses, and her obstinance pushed through. “This is my personal affair, so quit stopping me from going out. I’m well within my rights to do so.”
The man frowned and pressed his hands against the back of the couch, pinning her in his arms. “You are not allowed to do anything I don’t allow you to do.” Even though he knew she was using Christopher to rile him up on purpose, he couldn’t just ignore her. The possibility of them rekindling old flames frustrated him. This would endanger the baby, so she could not be allowed to do as she wanted.
Angela couldn’t believe this. He’s just the owner of a company, not a slave owner. Wait, I’m not a slave, to begin with. “I know you’re my boss, but your power does not extend anywhere outside of work. We’re equal outside working hours, so you have no right to control me.”
Anger flared in Conrad’s eyes. He leaned over and almost pressed his face against hers, the air of suppression suffocating her. “I’m not just your boss; I am also your husband. I have the right to stop you from meeting anyone of the opposite sex,” he enunciated.
Her heart thumped hard, and her eyes went as wide as saucepans. H–Husband? It was a term so unfamiliar and terrifying to her. If he hadn’t said that, she would have almost forgotten that they were also married. However…
“But that’s a fake marriage.”
Conrad held her chin, and an evil smirk curled his lips. “I know, but the government doesn’t think so.”
Angela inhaled sharply. If it weren’t for the fact that she needed money for her brother’s treatment, she would never get married to him. You said I was never your wife.”
The man stared into her eyes, his eyes cold, dark, and mysterious. “Personally speaking, no, but legally, yes. So, you have to follow the rules, honey.”

Angela was left speechless by his words. Her mouth was slightly ajar as she wanted to say something, but her mind had gone blank, so ultimately, she didn’t say anything. She felt as if a shackle was clamping down on her wrists, locking her to the wall, and keeping her imprisoned. A long while later, she snapped out of it and gulped.
“The law of marriage is about equality, so you should also cut out all the other women in your life. Why don’t you call off the marriage with Wilhelmina?” she said, courageously provoking him.
A hint of mockery flared in Conrad’s eyes. “We will never be equal.” He looked down on her like she was nothing but a maggot in his eyes. Like he was a god who owned her. His gaze was sharp as an arrow, piercing her heart and taking away her courage.
He was right he was born to money and had immense power, while Angela had nothing. They were in two different worlds since the day they were born, so there was no way they were equal.
