Chapter 16 Bleeding
It was a design draft of the flagship piece of the new collection.
“Angela!” he called out to the person ahead.
She turned around and saw the draft in his hand. Then she quickly rushed over.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Heathcliff. I dropped my draft,” she said.
A sharp cold light flashed in Conrad’s eyes. “What flower is the flagship piece inspired by?”
Angela pursed her lips. “It’s forsythia.”

At the launch event, Kelly had said it was winter jasmine. She hadn’t even realized the difference between forsythia and winter jasmine. Though they had similar shapes and colors, the forsythia flower had four petals, while the winter jasmine had five.
Conrad had keen eyesight, and he happened to be very familiar with both flowers that grew in the gardens of Heathcliff Residence.
“You designed the “Language of Flowers” collection?” he asked.
“Huh? Well…” Angela stuttered, neither admitting nor denying it.
However, Conrad had already figured it out completely
I thought this woman is quite cunning. But why didn’t she speak up when someone else used her design? Did she use up) all her cleverness in trying to nab a wealthy husband?
“If only you put all your focus on your work,” Conrad said.
Angela was stunned. He could question anything, but he absolutely couldn’t question her love for her
work.
“Mr. Heathcliff, I swear on my life that besides eating and sleeping, all my time and energy are devoted to my work. I am wholeheartedly focused on it,” she said, her voice becoming slightly agitated, causing ripples on her neck underneath her collar.
Towering above her, Conrad observed her.
He loosened his collar, feeling an inexplicable heat rising in his body.
This woman’s every word and every action seemed to stir up some emotions from within him.
“Don’t wear low–cut clothes in the future,” he said.
Angela was taken aback and looked down at her V–neck shirt. “It’s not that low,” she said.
All her clothes were conservative.
“Enough with the nonsense. This is an order,” Conrad said, then turned and left. His proud posture was like that of a king who could take anyone’s life at will, and he carried an undeniable authority with him that couldn’t be disobeyed.

His fiancée is the one dressed provocatively with a neckline so low it nearly reached her belly. Why didn’t he get angry
at her?
Double standards!
Inside the banquet hall, Angela sat in a corner, not getting any attention as an unknown designer.
However, her natural beauty couldn’t be hidden. As soon as she entered, someone noticed her.
Chris approached her with a glass of wine. “I didn’t expect to see you here again. It seems we have quite the fate,” he said.
Angela hadn’t expected to meet him either. “I’m a designer for MC Group, but my experience is limited…
She bit her lip, her voice barely above a whisper.
“It’s okay. With your talent, I believe you’ll soon make a name for yourself,” Chris said.
“I’ll work hard,” Angela said, swaying the juice in her glass and wondering how her big boss would handle the incident of identity theft.
Chris‘ gaze lingered on her face for a moment. She was the only girl in the room who wasn’t wearing makeup, yet she was very beautiful.
“Angela, you look even more beautiful than before.”
- Angela brushed her hair behind her ear. As a renowned photographer, he must have seen countless beautiful women. To him, she was at most a girl next door.
“There are so many supermodels here today. I can hardly open my eyes with all the dazzling beauty,” she said.
“You’re different from them-” Chris began, but he was interrupted by a middle–aged man who approached and put his arm around him. “Chris, Conrad is here. Let’s go and say hello to him.”
An indescribable expression flashed across his face. “Sorry, Angela, I have to go. Excuse me.”
After speaking, he left with the middle–aged man.
Angela took a sip of juice and was about to check Twitter on her phone when Kelly approached. “Angela, are you close to Mr. Christopher?”
She was taken aback. “Mr. Christopher?”
“Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about. That guy who just talked to you is Christopher Heathcliff, the third son of the Heathcliff Family. Everyone here knows his identity,” Kelly said.
Angela really had no idea, and her heart immediately surged with shock.
She looked up, her gaze piercing through the crowd and landing on the man in the distance. He was talking to Conrad.
Chris. Conrad is here. Now. Angela understood what that meant.

At that moment, Conrad suddenly turned and his gaze met her eyes directly.
A chill ran down her spine.
She trembled and quickly lowered her gaze.
If she gave him the wrong impression that she was after him again, it would be terrible.
“Miss Kelly, I’m a bit hungry. I’ll go get something to eat,” she said to Kelly.

She didn’t want to explain to Kelly. Saying too much would only complicate things. Therefore, she quickly stood up and headed toward the buffet cart.
Soon, the lights in the banquet hall dimmed, and fluorescent spotlights soon focused on the stage.
A famous singer was going to perform with the supermodels to liven up the event.
Meanwhile, Angela held a piece of cake, ready to return to her seat.
However, in the crowd, a pair of eyes had been secretly watching her, filled with sinister intent.
As she passed by, a foot quietly extended from the darkness and tripped her over forcefully.
She stumbled forward and fell hard to the ground.
The plate in her hand fell and shattered with a loud crash.
“Ow! It hurts!”
Intense pain instantly swept over her.
She struggled to get up but failed. Cold sweat dripped down her forehead.
A pool of bright red blood spread from between her legs, staining the white carpet beneath her…
