Chapter 15 Angela’s Scheme

No wonder they had to resort to artificial insemination instead of natural conception for their child. It’s probably an indication of their disharmony in bed as well.
“That girl has disappeared, and she’s most likely no longer in this world. Blood is thicker than water, and you’ll always be the mother of his child. If you can make Mr. Conrad fall in love with you, replacing Miss Prescott might not be an impossible feat,” Lana suggested in a hushed voice.
Angela didn’t dare to attempt it. She lacked confidence and courage. One was a member of the royal family, and the other was the man’s first love. She was just an ordinary person. Even if she practiced for a hundred years, she could never replace them.
“Lana, I’m just an ordinary person. I can’t become the wife of a wealthy man like him. As long as Mr. Heathcliff treats my child well, I’ll be content,” Angela replied.
A vessel should know its limitations. Her duty was to bear his child, not overreach like a moth to a flame. Her future partner should be someone from the same social class and someone who loved and respected her.
Lana wanted to say more but stopped herself, sighing inwardly. After some casual conversation, Angela was almost certain that Wilhelmina was behind the plot to discredit her, with Kelly as her accomplice, Wilhelmina probably suspected something was amiss about the “abortion” and this was a test.
Angela knew she couldn’t just sit idly by. She had to do something.
Sitting on the couch, she picked up her phone and scrolled through her social media feed. Someone had posted a poster that read “Chris Shutter’s Photography Exhibition“. It was scheduled for tomorrow.
Chris Shutter! He was a world–renowned photographer, and each of his photos was a collector’s dream.
When Angela saw his name, her heart trembled, and her thoughts drifted away.
At noon the next day, during her lunch break, she went to the exhibition hall. It wasn’t far from her workplace and was just two subway stations away.
The exhibition hall was bustling with people, many of them were fans who had come to see Chris.
Angela’s gaze landed on a photo, and her pupils dilated.
In the photo, the girl’s profile was bathed in sunlight, her jet–black hair flowing in the wind. She looked like a breathtakingly beautiful angel descending from heaven.
“This is one of my treasured works from many years ago. She is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.” A deep and magnetic voice came from beside her. Angela’s heart shook, and she turned her head abruptly.
A handsome and refined face was before her eyes.
“Hey, Angela, long time no see,” he greeted her with a charming smile. His smile was as if a long–lost ray of sunlight had entered her silent heart.
“It’s really you. I thought it might be someone with the same name,” she replied.
“I think I’m the only photographer with this name.” Chris shrugged. “As the subject of the photo, I hope

Angela smiled softly. “No objections. I’ve already transferred the portrait rights to you.”

She had met Chris during a trip three years ago but they lost contact afterward. To be honest, she thought she would never see him again, but she hadn’t expected him to come to Drumston for a photography exhibition.
At that moment, a group of fans from the photography association rushed over, surrounding Chris. They were hoping for autographs and photos taken with him
Angela was pushed to the outside of the circle and was able to only watch him from a distance through the crowd.
She remembered that after the trip, she had tried to call him, but his phone had been turned off the whole time. He probably didn’t want to be in touch–anymore. To him, she probably wasn’t even a friend.
She lowered her head, smiled bitterly, and turned to leave.
“Angela-”
Just as she reached the entrance, Chris came after her.
“Sorry, I’m really busy today. Can we exchange contacts and catch up another time?” he asked.
“Sure.” Angela took out her phone and added him on Twitter.
On her way back, she curiously glanced at his Twitter. It was empty, without any content. That was probably an account he rarely used, just like his phone number back then. The invitation to meet again was probably just a formality.
He was a renowned photographer, and she was just an unknown designer. The gap between them was quite significant.
I have to work hard. One day, I’ll become a shining star in the jewelry industry and make everyone who looked down on me take notice.
Fight on, Angela!
On the weekend, there was the launch event for MG Group’s new collection, “Language of Flowers“. It was Conrad’s first major event since taking over the company. It held great significance for Angela as well. Although her name wasn’t on the designer signage, she had personally designed every piece.
Kelly sat in the prominent position as the chief designer and all eyes were on her while Angela remained in an inconspicuous corner, unnoticed by anyone.
Conrad arrived with Wilhelmina. He was wearing a custom–made midnight blue suit, his 189cm tall and perfectly proportioned figure outshining even the top models. Indeed, he was a perfect embodiment of the golden ratio. Angela had to admit that he was a man who exceeded the limits of human aesthetics. His exquisite face was flawless from every angle, and not a single flaw was visible even under a magnifying glass.
Wilhelmina wore a haute couture gown, and the pink diamond necklace around her neck was particularly eye–catching. It was the engagement gift from Old Mr. Heathcliff when she and Conrad got engaged.

Angela unconsciously moved back, slowly swallowed by the shadows. Although her big boss didn’t like Wilhelmina, she knew he would eventually marry her. After all, they were a perfect match and were closely linked by family ties.
The new collection designed by Angela for MG Group was astonishingly exquisite.
Kelly stood on the stage, enjoying the flowers, applause, and praise showered on her.
Angela stared at her, her gaze gradually darkening as if she were being engulfed by a cold night.
After the launch event, there was a celebratory banquet. Angela walked in the hallway outside the banquet hall, holding a folder.
Conrad approached her from a short distance away.
Today, Angela wore a canary yellow long dress with her hair tied up into a simple bun while not having on any makeup. She exuded a pure and beautiful aura.
“Good day, Mr. Heathcliff!” she greeted politely and continued walking without stopping.
Conrad’s gaze slightly intensified.
The moment they passed by each other, a document fell from her folder.
Conrad glanced at it indifferently and came to a sudden halt.
