With a more serious tone, the doctor advised her, “I’ll leave you to it, Miss Smith. Do your best to secure that new medication soon. It’ll make a big difference for your grandmother.”
An elderly person with a fragile body could not endure repeated trips to the emergency room for long. With the right medication, her suffering would be greatly reduced.
“Thank you, Doctor. I’ll do everything I can. You’ve been a huge help,” Mia replied, cheeks still flushed.
She slipped out of Hunter’s grasp and moved toward the hospital bed, her heart aching as she looked at her grandmother’s frail form.
“Miss Smith, we’ll take her back to her room now,” a nurse said softly.
“Alright, thank you,” Mia replied. She took a breath and then turned to Hunter.
Hunter’s gaze rested on her, lips pressed together as he waited for her to speak.
Truthfully, he could have asked Sam to handle everything the moment he learned about her grandmother’s condition. But he chose to wait because as a businessman, he valued transactions and returns. If Mia came to him, he could make his own demands and gain something in return.
“Hunter.” Mia called softly, standing before him.
In three years of marriage, their relationship had never been close, and it had been a long time since she had called his name in such a gentle tone.
Hunter looked down at her, his gaze intense, his Adam’s apple shifting slightly. He couldn’t deny that Mia’s voice was truly enchanting. Especially in bed, when she whispered his name, it made him want to lose himself completely.
The memory deepened his gaze, and he offered a faint smile as he teased. “Mrs. Jasper, are you trying to seduce me right here?“.
His mood had brightened considerably for some reason.
Mia’s face flushed a deep red, her hands twisting nervously. She bit her lip and said softly, “Can we… wait until tonight?”

Hunter’s gaze softened as he took in her delicate, vulnerable expression. She looked heartbreakingly beautiful and undeniably captivating this way, stirring something deep inside him.
Seeing him remain silent, Mia felt unsure whether he would agree or not. She took a quiet breath, reaching out to tug lightly at his sleeve. “Hunter, is it okay?”
Her voice was soft, carrying a hint of anxiety. She wasn’t confident that he would say yes, which was why she had spent the past few days trying every possible connection to find the medication rather than asking him directly.
