Upon seeing Hunter, Jenna’s eyes flashed with calculation as she quickly threw herself into his arms, quietly sobbing.
“Hunter, I’m sorry. I never should have asked for the bracelet! If I hadn’t, Mia wouldn’t be so upset.”
“The doctor told you to keep your emotions in check, didn’t he? Why are you crying now?” Hunter frowned, his expression showing displeasure. However, his tone was gentle, making it clear just how much he cared for the woman in his arms.
“Hunter, the bracelet belongs to her. I’m not worthy of wearing it.” Jenna clutched his hand, placing the bracelet back in his palm, looking both humiliated and defeated.
Even though she was also married into the family, Mr. Jasper Sr. hadn’t acknowledged her at all on her birthday, not even a single gift. Meanwhile, he had given Mia shares in Genesis Corporation and the family’s antique bracelet.
Everyone knew that wearing the Jasper family bracelet symbolized the role of the lady of the Jasper family. It was a position of power, status, and wealth.
Women in high society circles would admire, respect, and even try to win the favor of whoever held this title, recognizing the influence and social standing that came with it.
Jenna had longed for that bracelet for ages, dropping hints to Hunter more than once.
And yet, Mia had been handed it so easily, without lifting a finger. How could Jenna not feel enraged? Despite her inner turmoil, Jenna knew she had to play it cool in front of Hunter, pretending not to care.
“I gave it to you. It’s yours now. There’s no reason to take it back,” Hunter said in a low voice, placing the bracelet back into her hand.
Jenna turned to Mia, a sly smile creeping across her lips. In her mind, she had won.
Mia could dream of getting that bracelet back, but it wasn’t happening.

I’ll bring a professional photographer and get some high–res shots. Who knows, maybe the judge will take pity on me during the divorce and grant me a larger settlement.”
Her smile was radiant, as if she couldn’t be happier. But no one knew how deeply she was hurting inside.
Hunter, standing right there, had handed the bracelet over to Jenna without hesitation, speaking as if Mia didn’t even exist. He didn’t see her as his wife at all.
So why should she hold back?
“We’re completely innocent! Mia, don’t get the wrong idea!” Jenna quickly jumped in, trying to explain. Deep down, she desperately wanted to be tied to Hunter, but she had never gotten the chance.
Mia looked directly at Hunter, her lips curving into a slight smile, her voice soft but biting. “Why don’t you, Hunter, clear things up? Explain how innocent the two of you really are.”

He realized he had grown used to the way things were between them. If they got divorced, he would have to adjust to being with someone else again. It was a hassle he wanted to avoid.
Hunter hated dealing with unnecessary complications, and because of that, he wasn’t planning to go through with the divorce.
After all, settling for someone else didn’t sound any better than staying with Mia.
At least they were compatible in bed.
